JOE LYNN TURNER Says New RAINBOW Lineup Isn't 'Up To Snuff'

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

While JLT often comes off as self-serving and full of sour grapes, it does seem like most fans agree that the new line-up is underwhelming.
Tough shoes to fill, of course, but....

Joe Lynn Turner is an underrated LEGEND and a monster on vocals as well as a great songwriter and musician. His lineup for Rainbow is my favorite and I LOVE "Stone Cold" and "Street of Dreams" Also love his work with Yngwie J. Malmsteen on "Odyssey".
However, Methinks that Ritchie Blackmore is more than a control freak and one slice short of a loaf of bread in recent years. I have not heard this new lineup of Rainbow Joe is talking about, but I have not liked any without Joe who was a great sparring creative foil and muse for Ritchie.

Arlene, you didn't dig the Dio line-up? To each his / her own, but i think Ritchie's best live playing was 1976-1978 with Dio and Cozy Powell kicking Ritchie into high gear.
I do dig the JLT years too, but i think live with JLT, Ritchie emphasized showmanship over playing.

From the recent videos I've seen, Ronnie Romero, in 2017 at least, is a much better vocalist than Joe Lynn Turner. Tough pill to swallow, and Turner sure ain't getting it down...........

well Ronnie romero also isn't 65 and been singing for over 40 years night after night.

That's a he'll of a flow chart

Indeed, Ipowrie, and it doesn't even include the mid 1990s Rainbow reunion / return or the recent one.

I used to love those diagrams. Talented dude. He didn't quite get the Dio-era Sabbath right (as Vinny Appice was on drums for half that time). I don't think he had room for another Sabbath lineup!
There could have been a third Sabbath lineup that would have made sense to include which is the one with Ian Gillian...again, not enough room.

That is pretty much it. I think JLT was banking on an eventual Rainbow Reunion and with Dio gone.... it left him in his mind.
I think I would take Ronnie over JLT even if JLT was a young man.
I have enjoyed everything that I have seen and heard from the new Rainbow.

I like Joe's voice and the music he did with Rainbow.
Just my opinion. he needs to just leave well enough alone, not doing
himself any favors.
Rainbow has always been Ritchies band and who he wanted to be in it.
There was talk last summer about his band being kinda weak, more so the rythm section.
I wanted to wait to hear and see from the offcial dvd/cd release before
judging on youtube videos. I do agree ,they seemed to lack something. I don think it was
terrible, just missing some "heft".
From what I know his mngt is kind
of heavy handed , but I find that hard to believe knowing RB's reputation. I guess It's
his mother inlaw.
