I saw Jason and the 400 Unit last night at the Great Southern Theater in Columbus. Wow! Without a doubt this is my favorite active artist...it is not even close. I saw them about 18 mos ago in a small bar with maybe 150 people and it was a good show. Last night was fantastic. This guy literally is the total package. Great songs, great lyrics, great voice, great band, oh.... and he can really play guitar too. He hits a sweet spot between rock, outlaw country, & R&B.

It was an ‘odd’ crowd. Most people were 50-ish. A lot of them I am sure were had season tickets for this theater and were not familiar with the band. Most telling was walking out and over hearing a new ‘convert’ talk with her lady friend about the show which went about 2 hours. She said “wow, I normally am ready to leave a concert after an hour. I could sat there for another hour!”

If you haven’t, just get a copy of Southeastern and enjoy the ride. BTW, he said after this tour they are headed back to the studio to record....YES!!!

I was there front row in the pit. Very good show. Wish Amanda had been around but it was a high quality show in any event. Jason was funny and charming and is really developing as a band leader. Good to hear him say they would be going to record soon. Cool moment when he talked about the reaction to Southeastern and an audience member yelled out " it changed my life " and Jason smiled and said it changed mine too. Sadler Vaden did a terrific job on the backing vocals and guitar.

Nice! I got on Ticketmaster about a week after the tix went on sale so was 3rd row on the first balcony. Great seats actually. Were you stage right with the blonde gal by chance?

I agree with everything you added. I told my wife I was hoping for Amanda too! The empty mic had me optimistic until the bass player eventually stepped up for backing vocals.

It is a great theater but a little tight space wise - definitely no standing or dancing where I was. Sound was great and it seemed like the perfect venue for this performance.

I think I saw the single pit front row on a capa presale and snagged it. I was stage right not actually with the blonde but she was to my left. I was representing wearing a Warren Haynes Mountain Jam hoodie. lol She was there with I assume her hubby. She was dying to dance so she and I were probably the first people standing and clapping on several occasions. Love Amanda so she was missed but as you said they killed it anyway.

I love the theater. Had been there once before for Josh Ritter on the night of the Boston Marathon bombing which was also a fantastic show.

I saw you. The blonde really stood out as most of the crowd was pretty subdued but you could tell she really wished she could stand up and boogie.

The internet makes the world a small place. Take care.

Yeah she told me right away she was bummed that is was a sit down crowd. She was definitely major into it. One interesting note from the front row view was no setlists were displayed anywhere.

Yes a small world! Go Bucks!
