I appreciate James Hunter. I saw tix for his band going on sale soon a while back, did a search on his efforts, and liked what I found. He's all in, He carries a torch of sorts for a genre gone by. I don't hear much of what he's putting out. His buying in fully makes it all authentic and a yesteryear resurrected to today. He breathes new life into a forgotten feel. Rekindling a blend of James Brown, Johnny Guitar Watson, Sam Cook, Otis Redding, among others is refreshing. Mama wanted to get up and dance.

Hambone Relay opened and shuffled thru some nice instrumental grooves. Fun sound to the band that trucked up the Turnpike from Philly. I'd like to see their full set, Good Stuff.

I like James Hunter too. I have two of his cds. A while back, the local Starbucks was selling "People Gonna Talk". I looked at it and figured what the hell. It's an easy, fun listen-to cd. Good for spinning at the office or just chilling at home.

He is a fun listen, I grabbed a couple CD's at the merch stand. I asked him where to start and he recommended the Baby Hold On cd and that's what's spinning in the car now, I have to follow up on others. Here's a nice site I use to sample artists for follow up purchases. This is for the Baby Hold On, but you can get snippets of other discs and artists too

That Tedeschi & Hunter show had to be sweet. R&B.

He's playing in Maplewood, NJ tonight, I think I'm going.

Good deal Fretsman. I live in Maplewood, .5 mile from there and really like Hunter. Unfortunately, I had longstanding plans to see an old friend for first time in 15 years same night so I was at dinner in NYC... glad oyu made it here and enjoyed.

It would've been nice to see you again, Fun show. We travel in the same circles. I'm in Saddle Brook 45 min's north. I last you talking with Cody at the City Winery. I'll dig out the Cutting Room interview footage we spoke of and PM you when I throw it on a flash drive. You jogged my memory. Thanx

I'll have to keep an eye on your sched, I have a loaded week, 3 shows in 4 nights inc The High Kings on 3/7 and I start my 12 hr night shifts on 3/9 so neither night is good for me. I put your Magpie Salute/Cutting Room interview and the 4 song set on a flash drive for when we can connect, I'm just not sure when that'll be. I can mail it if needed/wanted? It's just a different angle.

Here's the Backstory version

I never uploaded the interview, but it would be at this angle with zoom in & zoom out's

You might not even want it? Let me know either here or a PM and I'll abide. Later.
