@robslob I remember reading when Chuck Berry was asked what he thought of Jimi doing Johnny B Good in his set, Chuck said  " He's playing the hell out of it.". And when Bob Dylan met Jimi and All Along The Watchtower came up in conversation  Dylan said  "Oh it's your song..it's your song.  I only wrote it."

@lana Great picture of Jimi!!! Thank you. I saw Jimi once and it was in Greensboro,  North Carolina and the Coliseum on Lee Street in 1968 and he opened for the Monkees. It was packed and many were 8 to 15 years old and I think mostly girls. They didn't know what to think of Jimi and I had never seen anyone play an electric guitar like that. 

Supposedly Leo Fender had country music and western swing music in mind when he invented the Stratocaster and of course The Ventures and Hank Marvin brought the Strat into rock and Buddy Holly played rhythm with a Strat. When Leo Fender was called and told about what Hendrix was doing, apparently he was irritated at first but sales of the type tripled in 6 months. Smile
