Paul Butterfield Blues Band "East Meets West" would also be an excellent choice. I also just happen to have the "A Long Time Comin' " by the Electric Flag on vinyl.

Yes, A Long Time Comin' is a great place to start but that's only after you've heard Super Session with Al Kooper. Another must have is The Lost Concert Tapes (at the Fillmore) with Al Kooper

I was always partial to the album he did If You Love These Blues, Play 'Em As You Please. The guy was an encyclopedia of blues guitar.

Such a tragic loss to music, but man, what a legacy
