Eric Johnson playing vintage guitars at Norman's Rare Guitars

@bill_graham Did you know he can sing?? I hadn't noticed Eric Johnson singing before.
His guitar playing in concert is technically stunning. Very advanced. Like a classical violinist.

@robertdee Yeah I saw him in concert and have a live CD of his. Also saw him as part of the Experience Hendrix tour.
Another incredibly talented blues guitarist who doesn't get much press.

Gibson Guitars Quality Control 2024

@bill_graham That was good Bill. The quality of Gibson guitars today obiviously is well maintained.
Here are two guitars. A G&L Strat type and a 1956 Stratocaster hardtail. The guy playing the Strat probably has his amp too loud. That's what some in the band said back then but the playing is stomping good from both.

@bill_graham Very sad and disappointing to read of so many discrepancies and exceptions in a brand new, 2024 Gibson. I thought that both Gibson and Fender had righted their ships following their disasterous post 1960s periods. Sounds like this guy is pickin' the guitar to pieces (not in the good way). Also seems like he had two other bogus LPs before he got this one. As much as anything it points out the risks in buying a guitar sight-unseen (or site-unseen?)

Yeah, hard to believe Gibson would let those guitars out of the factory. For such a legendary brand that is just unacceptable for the price they charge for a Standard.
Made me take my LP standard out to check it out. I didn't see the issues he had but mine was a 2000 so maybe they had tighter QC back then?

A Les Paul Custom Inspired Gibson Acoustic? - Gibson Custom Shop Ebony Acoustics!

@robertdee In all fairness that list could've been titled, "The Top 10 Guitarists in the Allman Brothers and Lynnyrd Skynyrd". 😉
What about Steve Morse? Jack Pearson" Jimmy Herring? Mike Campbell? Barry Bailey? ...

@rusty Jack Pearson is the most "under the radar" guitarist who should be famous. I understand a lot of people in Nashville know who he is but most are musicians.
I'm glad Duane and Dickey were 1 and 2 but I'm biased after becoming a huge ABB fan after I first saw them in 1970 but you mentioned several that could have been on it.

1960 Gibson Les Paul "Barn Burst" played by Marcus King
Marcus King plays a 1960 Gibson Les Paul affectionally nicknamed “The Barn Burst”. Once owned by a local farmer who’d unwind with some Lynyrd Skynyrd on his Peavey Roadmaster in his barn every night after a long day in the fields, this guitar has soul. Never circulated, one owner - A true gem!

Another Beatles guitar on the auction block?

Sometimes, these guitars (not just Beatles) turn up - in this case, in an attic. The only means of provenance is "somebody gave it to so and so, who sold it to whatshisname, who gave it to someone ..." Someone seems to think that there might be an identifying mark or something. "The real proof is in the sound!" No serial number referenced. Hmmm.
This guitar (a Framus 12 string) will likely sell for mega-bucks. Suppose someone pays a small fortune for what is purported to be a guitar that belonged to John Lennon ... then someone finds what turns out to be the actual guitar in a closet somewhere?

Looks like this is right up Jim Irsay's alley to add to his collection of famous musician's guitars.
