However, lighten up Francis still fits much better !

Um, who's Francis? Is that from a movie or something? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks!

From the movie Stripes.

Nice version. Marc really stands out and shines. I think sometimes his percussion playing would get swallowed up. Really distinct and you know he is playing.
Scott has a nice solo that serves the song. Some nice jazzy feeling melodic runs at times.

How is Quinones in this band? I was happy to see that he will be with Gregg when I see him in Savannah.

He's terrific. Adds much needed color, depth, and intensity to the sound. It's like he's taken on ( or trying to take on ) the Butch role of driving and leading.

IMO, he takes this band from a B to an A.

Great addition and Gregg is fortunate to have him.

I loved it when his wife brought him a glass and kissed him at midnight.

Um, pardon me, but I don't believe Gregg has a wife presently.

A glass of what? Don't tell me he's drinking again.

Sorry to interrupt

I think this is a fine example of what Scott Sherrard can do, Multi-Colored Lady from July 2013. Note Scott's very tasty lead and note his restraint, how he plays to the song, not to show off licks. I think solos like this may be exactly why Gregg has kept him around for awhile.

By the way Susea, thanks SO much for the video. Haven't seen you around here for quite awhile.

And Buzzy: I meant you no offense. I can see where you meant that in general you like Scott's playing, but it "left me wanting more."

Greggs band is not a guitar driven force by any means. Scott can get the job done, does he blow me away with his playing,No...but I think him and Gregg have a special bond and I am looking forward to new songs thay have wrote together.

Robslob, no offense taken my friend. I was playful in my response as I certainly did not think that I was "slamming" Scott. As I stated, I think he is a fine player and no doubt Gregg likes what he brings to the band. I just have a personal preference for Jack's style as it has a greasiness/swampy feel to it (for lack of better words:) ). Regardless of who is playing guitar, I am glad that Gregg is healthy and allowing us more time to soak in some Allman JOY!

I do hope that he will add some future guests to the Friends lineup. As I previously shared, Jimmy Hall would fit perfectly in this lineup (quite biased towards Jimmy). The same holds true for Chuck Leavell or Ronnie Earl (can you imagine him on guitar!).

Scott Sharrard is a fine guitar player, no doubt.

However, when you are used to hearing these songs played by some of the greatest guitarists who ever lived, it's not too harsh to say he isn't up to that level.

When I saw Gregg at Music Midtown, I thought the set was pretty good overall, but every time Sharrard played a solo it was a letdown. It's not fair to Scott to compare him to the likes of Duane Allman and Derek Trucks, but oh well, that is the context in which these tunes exist.

I can see how Scott may fit in with the tight, clean, in the pocket style of Gregg's band better than somebody who is a guitar-shredding rock guitar god. However, this is a good example of where my taste differs from Gregg.

Your mileage may vary...

I know that Jimmy played in Gregg's band - can't remember exactly when...maybe sometime in the late 90's or early 2000's? I saw one of those shows. I believe it was when the Alameda Allstars formed the core of Gregg's band. Jimmy was quite the contributor & a good fit with Gregg - playing sax, harmonica, and singing.
