This was a good period for the Gregg Allman Band. I saw this line up several times in the 80s and Gregg and the Toler Brothers were always ready to play. Then in 1987 they had a surprise hit with I'm No Angel and the album went gold.
Dan Toler thought they were on the verge of breaking out as a major headling act and was very disappointed Gregg left in 1989 to rejoin the Allman Brothers.
But what happened is Gregg agreed to do an ABB tour in 1989 to support the Dreams boxset and celebrate the ABB's 20th anniversary and the tour drew such large crowds ( larger than Gregg's band)and the band sounded so good and Epic wanted a new album from the ABB that they decided to keep it going.
