Govt Mule -Peace....Like A River

Just curious if anyone has any reviews/thoughts on the new Mule and its Deluxe edition?
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I like this much better than Revolution Come, Revolution Go. The 2nd disc is nothing spectacular.

I listened to it last night and it's some of the best music i've heard in 20 years. I thought it was incredible and had to listen to it twice straight through. It reminded me of the classic bass drivin Mule sound but with the benefit of 30 years of life experience wisdom.

Speaking of bass-driven Mule, saw them in Pittsburgh on Tuesday and kept thinking how out in front the new bass player was all night.
Really good show.

I guess I can offer my opinion. At first, I was kind of like, "meh, it's okay". But after giving it a few listens I am coming around to it. It is a solid release. I did expect to get blown away a bit more than I was but it is definitely a worthwhile album. I got the bonus disc and it pretty much is the same as the first disc to me. I would recommend it.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

@lee I like the new album a lot. To me their best release in a good while. I'm a Warren and Gov't Mule fan.
To me and this may be odd, their best album was their first one released in 1994. My favorite track on it is Mother Earth.
I like almost all of the Allman Brothers Band albums a lot including the last studio album Hitting The Note.
But to me the only time the Allman Brothers Band really hit it out of the park, out of the entire stadium and over the roof were At Fillmore East, Eat A Peach and Brothers and Sisters. And indeed those three are the only Allman Brothers albums to sell over a million copies.
It is difficult for a band to top themselves when they really get it right with an album.
The label and critics put a lot of pressure on the Eagles to top or equal Hotel California which sold 26 MILLION COPIES in the U.S. and 32 million worldwide!!. It actually destroyed the Eagles to have that kind of pressure. Several members cited the pressure to equal Hotel California from their record label made being in that band a burden and no fun. And indeed they eventually broke up.

I have listened to it and as much as I love Warren and respect his talents, Mule has kind of fell out with me in some areas over the years. Some stuff I really like but, others ,eh....I'll pass. They just don't do it for me like they use to. Would still go and see them live(except for the Floyd stuff). Always a great live band.
I like my Mule kicking a little more.

I hear ya. I sure do miss the days when Allen Woody was holding down the bottom end and Gov't Mule was a brontosaurus. Ah well

Great article the making of the album including many YouTube videos
