Last month I shot the local youth football league's team pictures.

One of the coaches was Tim Green, former Syracuse and Atlanta Falcons star.

I've known Tim for over 20 years, he asked to help when I was in charge of the first year hockey players and his oldest son Thane wanted to play.

As I waited for the coaches to finish their talk with the team after their last game I was struck by how shaky Tim's voice was and he appeared to be what I would call "frail" considering he was a former NFL defensive lineman.

We got the team photo done and I packed up my gear as everyone walked away.

I caught up to Tim and saw that his daughter was holding his hand, helping him off the field.

I assumed that sadly, his career may have caught up to him.

Tonight my son sent me this link.

Words can't express my sadness.

I’ve known 2 people personally who had this. So sad.

Thanks for the link PhotoRon, I grew up in CNY and have always been a big Syracuse Orange fan for Football and Basketball.

He's going to be on 60 minutes this Sunday.

Apparently they had a camera crew filming the day I did the team photo.

I just assumed the pro video gear was one of our residents that had a kid on the team and the money for the camera outfit.

Maybe I'll get a cameo.

Heh heh.

I watched. Sad. To see the regression over the past 1.5 years is startling, for someone with a slow version of it, was surprising. He's been a college & nfl player, 10 year announcer, author of many books, active attorney on intellectual property, done pro-bono defense work, youth football coach, public speaker.

I've always enjoyed listening to Tim Green and reading his books. ALS is a terrible disease. Peace be with Mr. Green and his family and loved ones.

Fox Sports had an even more moving feature on Tim and his family before the 4 p.m. game yesterday.
