Finally Bought Gregg's new live album.

Gotta admit, this new album is terrific. The horn players and Scott sharrards play is outstanding. And Gregg's voice is spot on. I was hesitant to buy it as it had the "same ole songs". I just hope Gregg does take Scott and Jay collins in the studio with him and write +Record some new material this upcoming year. It would be a shame if he doesn't. Im No Angel is outstanding, maybe better than the studio version imho.

The DVD version of Back To Macon arrived a month ago and I have to agree. I thought it would be good judging by reviews here, but it's even better. The horn section and Marc Quinones on percussion add very sweet nuances to the sound. Probably Gregg's best solo band ever, and Gregg has said that himself. And yeah, the best I'm No Angel I've ever heard, easily better than the studio version. The two bonus tracks are some of the best stuff on this.............you get a tremendous Stormy Monday and also Floating Bridge.

In an earlier thread I raved about the live show and agree that this is one of his best bands.I love the dvd and play it regularly.
But imho, the Gregg Allman Tour Band with Cowboy,Chuck Leavell,Jaimoe,a full string, horn section and if memory serves me well, some singers too was his best band.(orchestra!)

True - The orchestra tour was superb - some of my most memorable concerts, but that was a one-off thing...not a regular touring band. It would be great to see Gregg do that today, but the costs would be prohibitive.
The current GAB is really impressive. One thing is hard to deny - when Gregg has gone out on the road away from ABB, he's always surrounded himself with major players. The list goes quite deep.
