Eric Clapton’s New Song ‘Heart of a Child’

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I love E.C. as much as anybody but that well has run dry.

@markramsey This is how I want to remember Eric Clapton. EC is one of the best SLIDE guitarists we've had but he doesn't get mentioned for that much. Derek Trucks has talked about it though.
Clapton is 76 years old. As of August 2021 Forbes pegged his net worth at $450 million dollars. He is a millionaire 450 times over!!!
His hardcore fans say on some of his videos that the media, which is 97 percent liberal Democrats, after years of being in love, is trying to destroy him now because he is antivax.
It's probably time for him to retire. Looks as if he has enough money to do it.

@robertdee he should retire because people in the media don't agree with him? I say play till you drop or do whatever you want. If you don't like it don't buy it. Some of the stuff touted on this site, to me , is crap. To each his own.

@olddog Yeah you're right. If I were worth $450 million dollars I wouldn't care one bit what the media thought of me. I'd rock on with a finger in the air. Today's media is often mean and intolerant with any viewpoint that goes contrary to their view of the world.
It use to be being liberal was a person that made room for any position as long as it didn't involve physically hurting people and violence. Tolerance and respect for people with whom you disagree. No more. I thought I was that kind of liberal but now I'm told I'm not. The stakes are too high now to be friendly with people who disagree. Just saw two progressive politicians on CNN slicing up and trashing the Senators from West Virginia and Arizona in their own party.

Take a look at the press of the 18th and 19th centuries. As for pols talking trash? Ask Alexander Hamilton or Charles Sumner.......

If I were worth $450M I wouldn't sue a widow for selling a bootleg for $11.
The recent commentary on Clapton is because he opened his mouth and a lot of whiny, tone deaf entitlement came out, not because of the media. He's a grown ass man and he made his bed.

@porkchopbob Well that may be. So it's not true the media has turned against Clapton.
Clapton is still one of the best slide guitarists and somehow never gets any kudos for that. Only Derek Trucks has praised Clapton's slide playing that I have noticed.

Clapton’s slide playing is fine, but also pedestrian and Un-evolved.
Landreth, warren, Derek, Duane, Lowell, all brought their own feel/sound. EC is a by the book slide player.
politically his racist rant from the 70s is one for the ages. I’m sure Oteil, Jamie, and Marc wouldn’t be impressed, to say nothing if warren.
robery cray removed himself as your opener this year because he noted Clapton has gone off the rails. Google it, it’s heartbreaking.
Dickey, god bless him, that’s the guy, not Clapton

Clapton doesn't need Robert Cray or Derek Trucks or anybody. Clapton is way more famous than Cray or Derek. If the virus ever ends Clapton could still sell out Madison Square Garden.
Dickey wrote my favorite song, Blue Sky. I'm a huge Dickey fan. Other than Duane, Dickey is by far the most important guitarist to be in the Allman Brothers. Dan Toler, Warren Haynes, Jack Pearson or Derek Trucks could have never been in the Allman Brothers and it would have made NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL!! But not Dickey! If Dickey hadn't been in the ABB it would have been a much different band
Speaking of Clapton's Heart of a Child....These two themes, if you were born in the 1940's or 10 years ago, are YOUR CHILDHOOD!!

I didn’t cancel him, he cancelled me.

@aiq Ronald Reagan would say a similar thing about the Democratic Party. "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party left me!" And "Mr. Gorbachev....I hope you tear your pants!"
Eric Clapton how I want to remember him.
