Disco Demolition 7-12-1979

Though I proudly ROCK and the Allman Brothers Band (along with U2, Heart, and Genesis) are my favorite bands, I am loud and proud for my love of disco. Granted some of it did suck and was lame, but some rock sucks too. But I bought every Donna Summer record, loved Georgio Moroder's work in film, Blondie who had influences of rock, punk and disco,. Bought records and rocked to Thelma Huston, Gloria Gaynor, and...here's a little band you might know of that infused some disco influences on this little ditty.
Rolling Stones "Miss You" which was semi disco infused I love.
Theme from the movie "American Gigolo" my favorite Blondie song, "Call Me".
My very favorite song by the late, great Ms. Donna Summer with Brooklyn Dreams, the gorgeous "Heaven Knows".

I was there at Comiskey Park that night - I feared for my life - idiots were flinging records like frisbees - I kept thinking of Odd Job from James Bond...... 😮

98 cents to get in for what was supposed to be a double header.
Insane Koholips

Preceded by this infamous event, 300 or so miles to the east:

Ha, ha - Rusty Torres attended both events !
Notable attendees
Among the Indians players fleeing was outfielder Rusty Torres. In his career, Torres wound up seeing three big-league baseball riots close up (all of which resulted in forfeits): in addition to this game, he had been with the New York Yankees at the Senators' final game in Washington in 1971, and he would be with the Chicago White Sox during the infamous Disco Demolition Night in 1979.
NBC newscaster Tim Russert, then a student at the Cleveland–Marshall College of Law, attended the game. "I went with $2 in my pocket," recalled the Meet the Press host. "You do the math."

Steve Dahl is a Chicago radio broadcast legend....He was Howard Stern before Howard Stern, just never got the national recognition.
Bill Veeck was a baseball promotions legend, always came up with unique ways to put asses in the seats.
On this night, between the both of 'em they definitely put asses in the seats (and all over the field for that matter!!). While it did backfire slightly (understatement), It got them both more notoriety and promotion than ever....People still remember the unhinged lunacy decades later!!
