I could have sworn I heard a Dickey Betts song that he wrote for Jerry Garcia. Tune sounded like blue sky a little bit. I searched for this song but came up with nothing. Anybody heard this song before?

After Jerry Garcia passed, Dickey started playing an extended intro to Blue Sky he offer dedicated to Jerry. Don't really know if he specifically wrote a song for him though.

Dickey has a song with a Jerry Garcia reference called “Having A Good Time”. It’s on his lnstant Live album from the Odeon in Cleveland in 2004.

Yeah, probably 'Having a Good Time.'. "Jerry Garcia was a good 'ol friend, a guitar-picker and next of kin. When he was around you could depend...on having a good 'ol time."

Sure would be nice to hear Garcia again, step out on stage and jam with Betts for a couple numbers.

Thankfully we have the recordings. I wish I got to see Garcia live and am hoping the chance to see Dickey happens.

You're thinking of how Dickey jams Franklin's Tower during the intro to blue sky. He's done this ever since Garcia died.

Yes... it was having a good time. I thought that was it’s own song. Guess that’s why I couldn’t find it. Thank you.
