Sorry for using your name porkchopbob but your last post in the first Eric Church thread really got me thinking.

Think of a young single Mom working a concession stand at the arena.  She just lost a night's pay because the booked artist would rather attend a basketball game than perform for fans in San Antonio.  That could be the difference in buying baby formula or paying a utility bill.  And that doesn't even touch on lost hotel business involving fans who are coming from out of town.  Hotel employees depend on bookings to work as well.
