Enjoyed the chat with Reese Wynans and both men's love for the Allman Brothers Band. 

I saw Reese Wynans twice with SRV and Double Trouble and they all smoked it read good. 

Dr. Beatty and Reese discussed how good Duane, Dickey and Berry were from the beginning and how good Gregg could sing and play and how the drummers worked so well together. That Dickey was the best and most creative guitarist Reese had seen until he heard Duane play. That the first time Reese saw the Allman Brothers Band perform early in their existence they were just fantastic and unlike any other band. 

And they discussed how good Warren. Derek and Otiel were in the band's latter days. 

But did you notice Dr. Beatty states technically Jack Pearson was the best guitarists the ABB ever had. I know Jaimoe a few years ago said Jack was the closest to Duane. I assume Jaimoe meant slide because to me on lead Jack and Duane are very different. 

Reese didn't dispute that and stated he wanted Jack Pearson to have a lot of playing time on his solo album but it turned out Jack didn't do much on the album. 

Sounds as if Florida had many great bands in the late 1960's and Austin, Texas had great blues players back then. 

Anyway hats off the Reese Wynans who played B-3 at the jam in Jacksonville that is considered the beginning of the Allman Brothers Band though Gregg wasn't there. To playing in the Brothers taking Gregg's place on the B-3:with Duane Trucks playing for Butch Trucks and of course Derek, Warren and Otiel for Duane, Dickey and Berry and Chuck Leavell representing the Brothers and Sisters era of the band.
