Interesting topic. This article raises its picks. For the most part, they are bands that I do not know, which is actually kinda helpful. I own the live albums that you would think I'd own (the TTB "Everybody's Talking" and "Live at Oakland,", the ABB's One Way Out, etc) as a member of this site, but this list points me in some new directions:
A few possibilities for Derek Trucks Band (Live @ Georgia Theatre, Songlines Live, Roadsongs).
Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scotts
Didn't Allison Krause put out a live album with Union Station in the early 2000s? Or was that late 90s?
That list is a little too hip for its own good. Trying a bit too hard.
I do have the Wilco, My Morning Jacket, White Stripes and R.E.M. from their list though.

I read this earlier today, some interesting choices. I've always liked the AV Club, but their music coverage isn't their strong suit.
Off this list I have and really like Okonokos, by My Morning Jacket. Great live album to workout with.
The Neko Case selection is pretty good also.
Have no idea why Roadsongs by DTB is not on this. Version of Anyday is my all-time favorite.
Another couple are Live In Atlanta by Lucero and It's Great To Be Alive by The Drive By Truckers.
I listened to Alive & Wired by Old 97's the other day. Very good.
Joe Bonamassa, Live From Royal Albert Hall is very good. Clapton & Paul Jones kick butt.

Great call on the Lucero Live in Atlanta release.
I would guess that Joe Bonamassa has released roughly 50% of all of the live albums in the 21st century.
The R.E.M., Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Sleater-Kinney are all good. Should check out the Tom Waits one sometime.
I like the Hall of Fame releases Umphrey's McGee puts out every year. They highlight some of the best live songs from that year.

I can think of anything earth shattering as far as live albums of the 21st century. Some decent recordings I am sure but the live albums of 70's seem to reign supreme.
I could go through and make a great mix of the ABB, Mule, The Crowes with all of they're live stuff put out to download. Deep Purple has been pretty prolific with live releases also.
We have been listening to Redbird- live at the cafe carpe quite a bit over the last few months. Good stuff.
Rich Robinson -Live At The Knitting Factory is a good listen.

Cool to see Lucero getting mentioned here. That live album has been in constant rotation on my commute for a few years now. They don't sound like the ABB at all to me but I have a feeling ABB fans would dig them.
As a friend says, they're rock, they're country, they're Otis, they're Neil Young and All Memphis.
They remind me of the Radiators in the way that they have a small but extremely loyal following that will travel far and wide to see them and the band is very cool to and appreciative of the fans.
Steve Winwood just released a live album this past year and it's great. Highly recommended.
Good thread.. I like Cream Reunion, Led zeppelin , Gregg live in Macon..Not sure if they are the best,but just some of the ones I listen to a lot and enjoy.

I love them. One of my favorite bands of the last 15 years. Ben is a great songwriter.
My only complaint is how little space the lead guitarist is given. I don't expect 7 minute ABB solos but Brian Venable is a good guitar player and is criminally under used IMO.
On their list I agree with REM Live at the Olympia. 39 songs and spans their entire career and is excellent. I have a few live Pearl Jam CDs since they released individual shows but I do not have the one they list.
Possibly, my most played live album is the Jayhawks - Live at the Belly Up from 2015. It's download only and tremendous. It shows why the Gary Louris lead version of this band (sans Mark Olson) is actually a better band. Here is the HD FLAC version:

I also agree with the pick above about Alison Kraus & Union Station Live. It's the one Alison Kraus CD to own if you only had one. Band is so good.
In the Allman family.....Roadsongs by Derek Trucks Band is indeed great. Love ABB Fox Box. The Live from the Fox Oakland is the better of the two TTB live albums to me. Gregg Live from Macon is another solid live album that we play alot. Warren's Live from Bonaroo solo acoustic got a lot of play when it came out.

Maybe it was the Black Crowes "Freak And Roll... Into the Fog (way too many words for a live album) Live At The Fillmore" that was being referenced.
Am not familiar with alot of bands on that list. Didn't know Shudder to Think every got back together either.

Two other great ones were actually DVD only, but I ripped to CD/computer to listen to as if they were:
Jason Isbell - Live From Austin City Limits: Wish this had been his official 400 Unit live album release as opposed to Live from Alabama (recorded at a point when his band was down to a 4 piece).
U2 - Live from Slane Castle - Mix of old & recent at the time (2001) U2 played with a cutting edge (pun intended) like the rock band that recorded in the studio in the early '80s

I can’t let this thread go without giving big kudos to Jay-Z’s Unplugged. Which is on the website’s list.
I know there’s not a lot of rap fans here, but that album, if you like rap, is fantastic. Jay is a pro’s pro and that album shows it well.
I got to see him in Philly with the same type of setup. Full band, no DJ, and it stands as one of my top 5 concerts of all time.
