A friend sent me this video of Eddie Kramer and John McDermott being interviewed about the new Hendrix Electric Ladyland box set. To my surprise, McDermott who did a movie about Jimi's appearance at the 1970 APF, says at 23:29 of this interview that he's working with Burt Holman on a new documentary about the Duane-era ABB, featuring previously unseen footage of the band with Duane. He doesn't specifically say it's from the APF, but it would seem to be a reasonable deduction under the circumstances.
Anybody else know anything about this?

It seems likely APF footage would be used. There also is footage of the band in North Carolina near Statesville in 1970 on You Tube. He says it focuses on the bands formation to the release of Eat A Peach. Eat A Peach is one of the best albums put out by any band. Absolutely a classic.

I've been waiting for this for years.
In her book, Galadrielle said she saw it and mentioned it would be released one the legal issues are dealt with.
Hopefully...

Yes - many of us have been waiting for years! I really pumped about it. The small clip of Statesboro Blues that's been on YT for a few years now is pretty good quality, so I imagine that an official release, digitally restored would be excellent. I hope, along with the documentary, that the whole length of that footage also gets released.
Now if someone would just find a tape of the night before the closing night at the Filmore... 😉 😛

BELIEVE !!!!

Glad to see this has been finally "leaked" by one of the people who is actually working on it. I was in contact with Burt Holman a year ago when he mentioned that the project was finally a go. This is going to be pretty spectacular with lots of previously unseen Duane footage. From what I heard there are 5 songs available from Atlanta Pop. Lots of good people from the Allman Brothers organization working to bring this to fruition. 50th Anniversary?

Unfortunately, there are many folks (including longtimers here) who have already passed who would have loved it. Let's hope it comes soon enough so all the rest of us still here get a chance!

I think the ABB have a healthy amount of live audio and outtakes available as official releases for us diehards, with 1979 specifically and the Jack Pearson years and the Jimmy Herring summer being the exception. 1979 has some good youtube video/audio available though.

The original band, however, was filmed so little for as many shows as they did over those 32 months that it's glaring.....and makes any and all video (particularly high end that this is believed to be) that much more important. I'm hungry for it and can't wait!

Yes, it's mind-boggling how little video there is of the original band. There is a rumor that Bill Graham had many, if not all of the Fillmore acts secretly taped, but they were lost in a flood, fire or other such cataclysm, haha.

I'm not holding my breath
if it ever did see the light of day it'd be interesting to know how it came to be released after close to 50 years
great that the CD was released though (2002 or so)

Well remember Gregg had that footage of the Warehouse that turned up
in the video Love the Life I Live off Southern Blood.

There could be more besides APF.

and I would still like to hear some of the old live hourglass stuff,
which supposedly exists

Great news! I'll order it the very first day you can do so! What I won't do is hold my breath until it is released as this conversation has been going on for many years! Hope that Bert/Warren/somebody gets with the heirs and gets that treasure trove of footage from the last incarnation that was streamed over Moogis from NYC, onto blue ray and released b4 we are all gone! I sure do miss those Beacon runs, live shows, & summer tours!

For sure any media from this period means a ton to us, the Festival especially means alot, my Dad hitch hiked bout 1,000 miles to be there with 2 buddies, all 3 had just Honorably served their 4 yrs in the Navy, I was 6yrs at the time, obviously not there, but this past October, I finally made it down and stood by the marker. We are grateful for all we have been left by the original 6 Guys, always wishing for more 😛 .........Peace.........joe

No kidding. I can't for the life of me figure out what keeps any and all of the old footage from seeing the light of day. Add the footage that Gregg had/used from the Warehouse in New Orleans for his video and you have a package that would only add to the legacy.

Fingers crossed.

I'm super super psyched about this too!

Just a small detail, those clips in Gregg's video weren't from the warehouse. We figured out that they're from the picnic pavilion at piedmont park:

https://www.google.com/search?q=piedmont+park+picnic+pavilion&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiSiabn8vHfAhXlQxUIHQdiAd0Q_AUIDigB&biw=1680&bih=857

I can't wait to find out what else is "in the vaults" that we don't know about... wish I was in the "inner circle" lol would love to help with synching audio to silent video if there was a way to be involved!
