Allman Tribute Show

Wow, you can get in for 14 bucks.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

Should of waited...but thought of not getting in took over.
They'll be giving them away night of show.
But at this point I'm not complaining, got some extra $$$ and what better
way to spend it........
Bros 50

I'm glad they chose MSG as the venue, it's going to give all the tried and true fans an opportunity to see the boys for less $$ than a cover charge for a local bar band.

Wow. Seats in the same areas as the link in this thread for $23 are still $200 or more for ticketbastard's "Verified Resale" tickets. Are these the same tickets? Do they overlap each site? If they don't, it seems like this show still has thousands of seats left which makes me a bit nervous. Would they cancel the whole thing due to low sales?

Down to 12 bucks for the lowest price today. Wow.

This is sad to see but not surprising.
This whole thing seems very half-baked.
The show is in two weeks and there is still a question as to what the final line up is.
In Warren’s ONLY interview regarding this show he suggested they may bring someone in to sing some of Gregg’s songs. That’s still an open question with the show almost here.
Then there’s the logo getting released last year but the show not being announced until two months prior. ZERO promotion other than Warren and Otiel giving interviews revealing there were still a lot of unknowns and a press statements from Jaimoe and Derek. That has literally been it. It’s the 50th Anniversary Show a year late yet still on a Tuesday with only two months warning.
I’m sorry to vent but it’s tough being a long time ABB fan sometimes because for whatever reason they seem to have a lot of difficulty getting their act together with so many products and events. Because this was announced only two months before the show and is on a Tuesday, I can’t attend (I live in ATL.) I’d love to see a webcast but it seems like there is zero chance of that happening so at minimum I was hoping to at least soak up some of the hype, read some interviews, hear about reversals, find out if they plan to record this. Find out whether the lineup has been finalized. That sort of stuff.
Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
All that said, still very excited this is happening! I hope all who are lucky enough to attend enjoy and please, Hail Mary, please do a webcast!

Please don't interpret any negativity here, as that is not my intention.
First of all, there's not way that I can make it to this event. I do wish that I could. Secondly, this show/line-up reminds me of the last 2 "Allman Brother's Band" shows that I attended. These were the two Beacon shows that Gregg did not play in. Jimmy Hall (and others) were brought in to reinforce the band. Kofi was there (it was always great to see Kofi - anywhere, any time!), too.
While not an ABB show (per se) it was a good musical experience. To be completely fair, it was more akin to a big jam session - with great players jamming together on songs they'd each probably played a thousand times. If this show happens, I'd imagine it would be similar to that Greggless (and now, Butchless) line-up - all just jammin' away. Great show if you're in the NY area - but not one to book flights and hotels.

I was at the last Greggless Beacon show and it was a great time just being in the City and watching the band and guests step up with a Show Must Go On spirit. Lots of memorable moments. Jimmy Hall belting out Can't Lose What You Never Had gave me goosebumps. That show was slapped together at the last minute I believe. The boys have a bit mo time for this one coming up. I'm flying in, got a room, gonna get a great day in the City, great dinner, pregame and a great show at MSG. I believe Derek, this ain't happening again. Can't believe my luck with the cratering ticket prices, i'm going to get a really good seat for way less than face, yee-haaw!

Those 2 shows in March without Gregg were indeed very good and a lot of fun. Junior Mack, Jimmy Hall, Kofi, Bill Evans, Ron Holloway, etc. I kinda wish some of these guys would make an appearance at MSG.
The big question mark for me is "where are Jack Pearson and Jimmy Herring?!" Being former guys in the band I find it hard to believe they wouldn't want to be there. Widespread Panic is not playing I assume as Duane Trucks is playing. Someone (hey Warren), please call them.
I'm excited Chuck is going to be there, such a distinct style; and I'm guessing Vegas has the odds on 'Jessica' at about 97.5% hah. Also excited to see Reese. He plays with the best around. Has played with everyone from SRV back in the day to Larry Carlton, Bonnamasa and others.

I was at the first March 2014 Gregg-less show and it was stellar. I felt bad for people who had made the trek to NYC just for that show and their natural disappointment. It was excellent music, (I particularly remember a crazy intense drum solo section) but obviously not the show they had anticipated.
I’ve said before, it’s very cool they are doing this Tribute show, and I realize these guys are all on the road right now but WHERE IS THE HYPE? It’s like they expect the upcoming boxed set to do all of the promotion. Typical ABB lack of focus, but MSG is still kind of a big deal, how are we not hearing about this event every other day? Shouldn’t they be whetting everyone’s appetite so we impulsively buy expensive tickets? It’s 2 weeks away and it’s been crickets since the initial announcement.

Yes, WHERE IS THE HYPE?! is right. This is almost starting to feel weird, even for the Allman PR "style". I don't know why, but I have about a 5% chance worry in my head that the thing gets cancelled. Someone send some positive vibes and let's start getting pumped about this thing haha. Can't believe it's right around the corner.

Not to burst Doomsday balloons but those cheap seats are in the 400s behind the stage.
Unless i am missing something, there is no need to panic.

Yeah I don’t get it with the ABB’s management.
After GD50, seems like they could have done something creative and pumped this thing up a bit.
This whole thing seems completely half-baked and the lack of press and promotion, especially from band members, seems like no one cares. I wonder if Warren is just worn out from trying to squeeze blood from a stone.
The release of the logo last year with no explanation whatsoever is just embarrassingly bad.
As of right now they still haven’t even confirmed the final lineup as Warren indicated in his only interview that they were looking at bringing in a vocalist to sing Gregg’s songs. Their big 50th Anniversary Celebration show at Madison Square Garden (in year 51) is two weeks from now and they still haven’t even confirmed the band that’s playing. Weak sauce.
Sorry to vent but this is pretty much the only thing we have to talk about regarding this show at the moment.

Is ABB management involved with this at all? It's not an Allman Brothers concert and all the promotion has been from LiveNation, including the teasers, which seemed like a pretty normal way to promote something in 2020 (it did seem to get people talking).
Do you guys have a financial stake in this show? If the tickets don't sell or sell for really cheap or the show doesn't get promoted enough, it's not anybody's problem here. I'm assuming we'll hear more about this after Tedeschi Trucks gets off the road next weekend.

So a couple weeks ago a fellow Allman fan was at my house and I figured I’d bust out the 40th Anniversary DVD. It’s been a while since I watched it last and I was struck at how freaking terrible the intro graphics are. And lack of any features. And lame video quality. I mean the production on this DVD is worse than a porno.
What also struck me more is how this is bar none the Best MUSIC I own on DVD! The first set just blows me away every single time I watch it.
I have faith. I have faith that even though the promotion for this show is as bad as the production of the 40th DVD is, I know that on March 10, 2020 at MSG, The Brothers are gonna jam their asses off one more time and it’s gonna be the best goddamn show that’s ever been played since 10/28/2014 and I can’t wait!!

Well shiat! Thanks for the posts! I am just grateful, grateful that Brothers Jai and Dickey are still with us and that Jaimoe feels up to doin the gig and for all the guys being ready and steady, willing and able! Hope every associated player who can show up does so! Hope the fans show up! Like Joe_the_Lurker just stated, these are among the world's very finest at what they do! I am hopeful that though I won't be there, someday and someway, I will get to hear the music played this night.
..............Peace.............joe

I thought the lineup was confirmed and published weeks ago? Does anyone have a link to the Warren interview where he says they are still looking for a singer?
Not that I really care all that much, no matter who may or may not join it will be a smokin show. In fact I would say I wouldn't mind some surprises.

Seems to me they would want to have Devon, Duane & Berry Jr. there as well?

Haynes says they’re still deciding who will handle Allman’s vocals,...

Whoa dude, people are just excited and still have questions. Some of us are just surprised there hasn't been more chatter since the announcement from those involved.

Maybe michael will step in and do Gregg's vocals.
Heh heh.

Cheapest tickets now at a mere six bucks. Crazy.

I also attended the last two greggless march 2014 shows at the Beacon. While every ABB Beacon show I attended was extremely enjoyable the real test to me is how well the songs hold up over time. Being able to buy CDs of every show was a beautiful thing. Someone mentioned Bill Evans who always provides a nice bump. Also I believe it was one of those shows where the group did my favorite all time version of Franklins Tower. I’m in the minority but I typically enjoyed the greggless shows the best. The band was looser, seemed to be having more fun and quality of music always very good. Flying in from CLE - Looking forward to the 10th.

Maybe I was too harsh, and I don't blame anyone for confused or curious, or frustrated if they paid full price only to see ticket prices fall 90% or something. And we've all been confused or frustrated by things the band and its management have done in the past (although I still don't know if any of those people are to blame for whatever is going on here). Some of this does read as complaining for its own sake- not just in this thread but in general.

I think fans just take a lot pride and have such a strong connection with these musicians and songs we take things personally. I'd rather see it filled the rafters (whether I attend or not) and take it a little personally that somehow it won't be (and frustrated if planning is part of that reason). I took personal satisfaction in the success of the Beacon runs, beyond just the small minority of shows I saw. I was glad they ended on a high note in their final stand in NYC. I'd love this to be a success, too.
Ohhh, and the cheap upper levels have me considering pulling off a trip!

I hear ya, I don't think there is much to complain about here when you accept the show for what it is and not for what it isn't. It's a gift to fans in the epicenter of their fanbase, probably organized by an exec promoting the boxed set. From what I've gleaned, not everyone who will be onstage is super excited to do it, so selling out MSG probably isn't a big deal.
I do think people are excited for the show, or simply disappointed they can't make it. If there was a constant wave of promotion, I don't think there would be as many complaints. Imagine if no media or players talked about the Super Bowl for the weeks before it happened, fans would go crazy. There were always exciting surprises at the Beacon, but it was also a familiar "home", everyone knew what to expect. But also, ABB fans can be fickle. Just look how quickly calls for Dickey to go back out on the road did an about face once he did.

I know a guy in Columbus, OH ... who knows a guy who says he knows somebody who knows for a fact that Clapton will be there.

Yeah I don’t get it with the ABB’s management.

You don't seem negative - realistic is more like it.
This isn't the ABB. It's not the ABB playing its 50th anniversary show at MSG as they discussed in 2014. It's a tribute show w/some of the members plus Chuck (for a few numbers).
I didn't take Warren's comments to mean they're looking for a vocalist - more like they're deciding among themselves how to handle it.
I don't know what's expected for hype. Warren did Rolling Stone last month. LiveNation is doing its usual. ABB fans know.
It'll be a great evening of music. Enjoy it for what it is.

I posted this elsewhere ... but I'm just looking for a possible explanation of the scenario in which my buddy paid $200 for tickets that are now $50 ? How does this happen, and is there any recourse ? the receipt is from ticket master ... but i'm confused as to why we would pay secondary market prices for a show that still had thousands of seats available ?
The complete rip off not withstanding ... we are looking at this show as closure to our 25 years of following this band across two countries and over 20 shows ... and are otherwise excited to experience the music of the ABB live one more time ...
Also, we were looking for "help" from fellow brothers , or sisters who will be attending the show ... we are coming from Canada and will not be able to "bring" anything over the border ... I know the sensitivity of the subject - but with it being the last show ever - we want to be in a proper state of mind ... and you help would be greatly appreciated.

This won't help you, but I believe that I have noticed something of a TicketMaster phenomenon.
When tickets first go on sale, they are usually priced through the roof. I have done many a double-take looking at prices before deciding, "no way in Hell am I paying these kinds of prices for a band that I've seen 25 times!". Then I return a few days later and notice that prices have settled into semi-sane levels. I'm guessing that your friend (and others) enthusiastically jumped at what they thought might be the best opportunity to get seats for a show that surely would sell out in a couple of hours. I wish that it were not so, but ticket buying can be a real craps-shoot sometimes.
