His reaction is probably just like back in 73/74 - Why the song is (was) a hit!

Never much mention that the studio version of Ramblin' Man on Brothers and Sisters was Berry Oakley's swan song in the studio. Supposedly Wasted Words was recorded before Ramblin' Man. Then from track 3 to track 7 it's Lamar Williams on bass.

I'm not sure what is Duane 's swan song in the studio. Butch, Gregg and Dickey didn't seem to remember but they were sure it was either Blue Sky or Little Martha.

The band decided to take a break and come back and finish what was called Eat A Peach in a couple of months. Standback which apparently began as an instrumental written by Berry Oakley was also recorded. Berry was calling it The Road to Calico according to several insiders and after Gregg got it and added words and some minor changes it became Stsndback.

I'm not sure they knew what else was going on Eat A Peach. Dickey had an instrumental. When the 5 man band got back in Criteria in Miami they recorded just 3 tracks. Ain't Waisting Time No More was written by Gregg in response to Duane's death and Melissa was recorded because Duane liked it. Butch named Dickey's instrumental Les Brer in A minor as a response to Duane's death too. Butch said it's broken French for Less Brothers. Supposedly they were going to do a studio version of One Way Out but decided to use a Fillmore version so Duane would be on it plus a live version of Trouble No More with Duane which gave the album 8 tracks. 6 studio and 2 live. I think it was Butch who named the album Eat A Peach and got Phil Walden to add Mountain Jam because Duane is on that. And the album was dedicated to Duane and Brothers and Sisters was dedicated to Oakley.

I believe Tom Dowd said that Stand Back was the last song Duane recorded.

Tom probably remembered correctly. They got three tracks completed for the new album, everyone was tired so they decided to take a month off and come back later. Standback, Blue Sky and Little Martha.

This delayed progress on the album so after the 5 man band did Ain't Waisting Time No More, Les Brer in A minor and Melissa in December, Tom Dowd was out of time and needed to move to his next project. So Johnny Sandlin took over and did the final mixes for Eat APeach. Johnny felt he was then the co-producer with Dowd and told Phil Walden that.

When the album came out it went on to sell over a million copies and go Platinum but Johnny Sandlin only got a "special thanks" on the credits and it really steamed Johnny. I mean he was very angry. Johnny felt the album was PRODUCED by Tom Dowd AND Johnny Sandlin.
