Speaking to Joe Russo about the Brothers shows; what he learned from studying Butch and Jaimoe; how Phil Lesh opened up music for him, why JRAD remains a blast and much more.

Listened earlier last night. Joe did a good job on those Brothers shows.

I guess Duane Trucks was busy with Widespread Panic?

Specking of Panic I remember when I was a kid the show Panic came on and I had not seen it before and I ran into the other room to tell my dad the TV screen cracked!! He came running into the living room and it was fine. I was a confused 12:year old:)

This is the show intro that made me at 12 years old think the TV screen CRACKED!!!!

Informative interview --- I unbeknownst got introduced to JRAD at Peach Fest one year and thought they were pretty damn good. Had no idea who I was watching then later learned it was a Dead cover band (ish) and was stunned. Sounded nothing like the Dead

Joe was a great add to the Brothers. Great energy

Marc was the MVP, though --- brought so much color and glue to it all

I saw them at Peach 2014. Bob Weir was supposed to be there but got sick, and JRAD was a last minute fill in. I'm guessing that was the same show you were talking about.

imo the best post GD bands are ones that aren't trying to sound like the Dead, but are pushing the music somewhere new.

Great interview.
