A Southern Rock Playlist

This is a "setlist" I created from my iTunes library. It is pretty much chronological but some songs show up as the year of the release I got it from and not when it was recorded.
Mr. Bojangles - The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
The Weight - The Band
Key To The Highway - The Band
Going Down the Road Feeling Bad - Delaney & Bonnie & Friends
Livin' on the Open Road - Delaney & Bonnie feat. Duane Allman
Can't You See - The Marshall Tucker Band
Take the Highway - The Marshall Tucker Band
Statesboro Blues (Live from Winterland) - The Allman Brothers Band
Green Grass & High Tides - Outlaws
Call Me the Breeze (live) - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Gimme Back My Bullets - Lynyrd Skynyrd
La Grange - ZZ Top
That Smell - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Ghost Riders in the Sky - Outlaws
Don't Pass Me By - The Georgia Satellites
My Head's in Mississippi - ZZ Top
I Love You Period - Dan Baird
Knockin' Around Nashville - Pat McLaughlin
Right Place, Wrong Time - Dr. John
Heard it in a Love Song - The Marshall Tucker Band
The Devil Went Down to Georgia - The Charlie Daniels Band
Champagne Jam - Atlanta Rhythm Section
Turn on Your Lovelight - The Allman Brothers Band
Highway Song - Blackfoot
Can't You See - The Marshall Tucker Band (different version)
Down Home Blues - Papa John Creach
Lady Luck - Grinderswitch
Somebody Take Me Home - The Randy Rogers Band
Up on Cripple Creek - The Black Crowes
Some of these are live but the majority are some version of a studio cut. There's not a ton of ABB stuff because I have pretty much all of it someplace else anyway. There are a couple with Duane tunes though. There are probably a couple that most have never heard of. It clocks out at 2:33. Sounds like a fun concert!

"Turn On Your Love Light" is Gregg Allman from 1974 as far as I know. It's on his 1974 live album with Cowboy.
I remember hearing the last lineup cover it in an Allman Brothers concert like the ABB covered Dickey's Long Time Gone in 1975 and 76.
Or am I wrong?
"Statesboro Blues" by the Allman Brothers Band at Winterland? I found it on the 50th anniversary release of Brothers and Sisters where extra CDs in the package have it. I forgot it was there. Dickey on slide and Chuck on a piano break.
Good rockin' version Lee!! Thanks for bringing it too my attention. It's as good as any post Duane version I've ever heard. Smoking version with an animated Gregg vocal.

It's a Bobby Bland song originally, but Gregg's version on that live album is my favorite by far.

Some are live and some are some version of studio as I said. I don't have the CDs in front of me so I am not positive. The information is what popped up.
The Papa John Creach I recall is from a Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam. I want to say Ted Nugent has a song on it as well. Odd.
The Statesboro Blues might have been on the Winterland bonus disc.
On Turn on Your Lovelight, Gregg mentions Randall Bramlett during one of his solos if that helps. It is on one of those compilations so it could be from anywhere I guess.
I have too many CDs to go through to say for sure.

My favorite version is the Grateful Dead with Duane, Gregg, Peter Green and I am not sure who all else from Fillmore East 2/11/70 where Pigpen and Gregg trade off vocals. That whole show is smoking and I no longer seem to be able to lay hands on it. May need to get it off archive. org

Yes, & may I mention the Dead’s 2/1/70 version in New Orleans on the 2-CD boot The Best Damn Music In The World, w/FMac
the brief liner notes are wonderful
”’The Best Damn Music In The World!’” shouts the emcee at the conclusion of the raucous Lovelight that concludes the New Orleans show.
“Little was he to know that even this was to be exceeded a scant 10 days later and a half a continent away onstage at the Fillmore East. Jerry Garcia, Duane Allman & Peter Green played a guitar triptych for what’s easily the most unique Dark Star while the trio continued to burn behind Gregg Allman & Pigpen trading verses and organ licks on Lovelight
”the only drawback to these boards is that they’re incomplete. Still, the two hours here are almost too rich to consume at one sitting.”
✌️🎶
