A question about a 2006 Phil Lesh & Friends Instant Live Show

Okay, maybe i could post this in the question section or find some Phil Lesh & Friends or GD Forum but i try my luck here 😛 :
Last summer i bought a instant live 3CD from the Phil Lesh & Friends summer 2006 tour. I already owned the Atlanta, GA show (06/25/06) on instant live for the ABB tunes played in the 3rd set and Dickey and Duane Betts guesting during that entire 3rd set. Cool item for my ABB collection. So like i said last summer i bought another 3CD set at a Festival because according to the setlist sticker once again Dickey and Duane Betts were guesting on disc / set 3. No ABB tunes this time. It's recorded in Asheville, NC on 06/27/06, so only 2 days later. But apparantly they were a no-show and/or didn't perform. I can't hear them anywere in the recordings and they are not mentioned by Phil while announcing the band members and guests.
Anyone knows why they didn't perform that night as was apparantly planned?
(BTW, very annoying that they still got mentioned on that setlist sticker which was probably printed in
advance of the actual show).

I don't think they were scheduled to play that night.....
Mike Gordon and the Marco/Russo band were the openers (well, they were late so they closed the show instead)...
I think (as it's been many years) that dickey was only doing the ampitheatre shows that summer.......

Dickey and Duane weren't scheduled to perform that night with Phil. However, they did play an early show with Phil the same night as the Atlanta gig you already own - and the SBD is available for free download here:

Thanks for the replies! But it's not about whether they were scheduled to perform those nights but at least Dickey did sit in at that Atlanta show and ther were so sort of plans that he and Duane would sit in with PL&F at that Asheville show because the stickers with the setlists that came with the generic instant live Phil Lesh tour of 2006 mention them performing on those shows. I guess they were made in advance of the shows, probably after that night's setlist would get the "green light" from Phil but it is kinda misleading / stupid to apply stickers on that instant live show mentioning special guests that (eventually) didn't perform at all. Was just wondering why. Illness? , couldn't make the shows on time? no time to familiarise with the songs being played during that set or just a screw up from the folks working on that Instant Live team?

I would imagine a screwup as I don't think anyone is going to provide any evidence that they were supposed to be at this show.

Dickey played with phil in Atlanta cause his band opened for them that night...
He didn't sit in with them in Asheville cause his band wasn't there---I believe they played a show elsewhere that night....
My guess is the IL people just stuck a sticker on that show by accident....
The show that you have---does it have a printed setlist on the back or is it blank?
The ones they did at the shows would be blank while the ones (sometimes) sold afterwards have the printed setlist....

I went to both shows. I left the Atlanta show disappointed. I felt Dicky wasn't listening to the other players and that they blew some great improvisational moments. Why they didn't jam from Franklin's Tower into Blue Sky - or vice versa is a mystery to me.
I left knowing that Phil was going to have a great show in Asheville, simply because the Atlanta show was sub-par.
I was right and the Asheville show was top notch. Especially the Other One and the Eleven - if memory serves I think they also played an outstanding "Alligator"... maybe not but they did play a superb "Cosmic Charlie"...
kevinnumberger is correct about Mike Gordon and Joe Russo getting there late. I think it was due to weather. A lot of people left after Phil & Friends because of bad communication.

Well, both instant live shows came with a similar dark red sticker with the setlist and guests. Probably orginally stuck and the shrink wrapper but i stuck them on an inside panel since the back has the band members mentioned so there's no place to put the sticker. Both sets have the following info: "produced by Cygnus productions. CD mixing and mastering by instant live". So i guess they were not orginally purchased on the night of the show but afterwards (probaby online through phillesh.net or the IL website).

According to the setlist / tracklist sticker "Cosmic Charlie" was played as second to last song in set 1. "The Eleven" and "The Other One" played in that running order on disc 2 / set 2 but "Alligator" isn't mentioned.

I don't think any of the Phil Lesh & Friends Instant Lives from 2006 have the setlist printed on them. The two that I have from that year are both pressed CD's and not recorded ones so they were made well after the shows and they don't have the set lists on them.

yeah.....
sometimes they would do a printed setlist for the ones purchased well after the show and sometimes they wouldnt........
