Posted by: @harveyPosted by: @easymichaelFirst, hello, everyone!
Second, it's a BIG anniversary for coot* and me: on this day 20 years ago we met at the Golden Ox on Kansas City, KS, before the dTb/ABB show that night!
Hey Michael ... nice to see you ... I hope that you are keeping well my friend ... Happy Anniversary to you and Steve ... hoping that the magic is still there for you both
Indeed, 20 years! Easy was the first person from the site that I met, as he walked into the place about a second before Lana. Also met Stormy that night and enjoyed numerous shows with him later at Red Rocks.
Nice of you to stop by with the remembrance! Don't be a stranger, the MT lives on!
Got really good sets from both bands that night.

Oh and a PTOR to boot!!!!

Lee will be in one of his rainbow tye-dyes I am sure ....
Nice to see EZMichael here - now that you are retired you can check in once in a while ...
Hey, everyone! Nice to "see" some familiar faces 'round here!
Lee, those Beacon parties/jams were incredible times!
The Golden Ox was (is?) a restaurant in KC, KS, where we arranged to meet before the show. At Stormy's suggestion, I had the steak soup--and it was freaking dee-licious!
coot*, it is still an honor to be your first...
Lee, in a few days we'll have our own 20-year anniversary for a blazing-hot Detroit show!
I'm out of practice: that should've been ten posts.

I forgot about that one somehow. Do you recall who opened that? Something Dead related?
Nothing beat that day we drove to an ABB show in your pick up with no air listening to Blue Sky when it was about 100 degrees. Was that in NC? I know it was somewhere around you.

Tomorrow I go back to my dental surgeons. This shouldn't be too terrible. No surgeries for now. They have to give time for my jaws to heal. Which kind of sucks because I want them to speed up the process but I guess you can't.

THB got free tickets to this for Thursday night. She wants to see the band right before Willie Nelson and then leave. The band she wants to see is really good but I told her she can't miss an opportunity to see Willie for free!

Patients must have patience ... good luck with it all, Lee ... hope your jaws are healing well and it's not too long before the next stage of your treatments ...
@lee It was Phil Lesh and Friends/PLQ in Detroit.
That no-A/C ride was in NC. That "Blue Sky" was from a Phil show with DB sitting in from Hot 'Lanta show where DB&GS opened up. I recall that the rest of the band was ready to wrap up the solos and get back to the song, but then DB made kind of a "Oh, yeah--what about THIS?" move toward Warren, and the song sailed on...
One of my all-time favorite quotes was from Warren Haynes during the DB&GS opening set in muggy, Hot 'Lanta.
Warren came out early to check out the set. JC Juanis, who was Phil's publicist at the time, was standing next to WH. Referring to DB, JCJ said to WH, "It must got hot under that (cowboy) hat!"
Warren turned to him and coolly replied, "You have NO idea..."

This doesn't sound like fun. Ugh. Be well!

That "Blue Sky" was from 7/27/02.
I believe the no-A/C ride was either 8/23 in Charlotte or 8/24 in Raleigh. My guess is the Saturday, the 24th, in Raleigh going from the Mellow Mushroom to the ABB show at Walnut Creek in Raleigh. And, yes, it must've been HOT!
Man, I miss gathering for all those shows...
EZM are you still performing? Last group that I knew of anyway was Big Boss Man, that was some time ago.

You are correct, it was from The Mellow Mushroom in Raleigh. Sure wish I had bought a shirt from at that place. It was very ABB-esque as I remember. I'm not positive but I think that was the evening Warren kind of set up shop in the parking lot and played a few songs for the fans. I know it was in the Southeast.
And you are certainly correct about the gatherings before (and after) the shows in some cases. As a lot of people have said over the years they were often as much, if not more, fun than the shows themselves. Somehow I think maybe I took that time for granted a bit but I sure am glad I caught the band in so many places because for a few years I traveled to a lot of places.

I forgot that I got to see The Q. Didn't Lana make it to Detroit for that for some reason?

Good Afternoon. Played golf this morning (beautiful day) and going to a minor league baseball game tonight ...
My computer has been screwing with me for a while (I probably need a new one) and certain sites didn't seem to work. I used Chromium as the browser and that seems to be an issue so I went to Microsoft Edge, which seems to be better. Stooopid computer world...

I was traveling with Lana at this time, so, yes, she was there. The Grateful Dead and all its spinoffs weren't (and still aren't) her thing, though...
On the other hand, I'm looking forward to my next Dead and Company show on July 8!

That's right, I do remember your trip. Didn't people meet at a restaurant's patio before the show in Clarkston? Pretty sure that was the show.
