Listening to the second concert I ever went to.
Grateful Dead, 2/4/69 The Music Box in Omaha.
I'd still be grounded if my folks knew I snuck down there. I didn't know the Grateful Dead from Barry Manilow.... 😛
Actually, I more into watching the people than the music.
My next concert was Buddy Miles (an Omaha native with lots of ties to the ABB) also at The Music Box. He was back in town for a show after The Band of Gypsys broke up.
The Music Box was in the basement of a downtown building near Omaha Central High School, which was actually once the Nebraska state capitol building before the capitol was moved to Lincoln.
It was hotter than hell when Buddy played, the sweat was rolling off him like Niagara Falls. That guy had a most interesting musical career. I have an obscure LP of Buddy's where Dickey plays slide on one track. Buddy used to hang with the original ABB in LA when they were still going by The Hourglass.

TWIM (This week in Moid) notes:
Went to Blues Fest Sunday. Dragged family in the heat. Saw Ronnie Baker Brooks, Rhiannon Giddens, and Gary Clark Jr. Thought Ronnie's set was the best, but the others were good as well. Had a few overpriced beers.
Went to Elvis Costello Monday with Conor. Great $20 ticket. Paid more for parking and for a Bud for each of us than our tickets cost.
Had a shitty day at work on my birthday, followed by a nice family dinner.
Getting ready for a graduation party for Spencer, and other exciting changes. Caught up with a few friends.
Hope all you lollygaggers are doing well.
Citizens of Chicago could you buy White Sox tickets at the gate for a Friday night game?
I would say yes....................
...as long as you dont get mugged/shot while waiting in line 😮
