I don't really know what to say. Everyone's thoughts, memories and tributes are very kind and appropriate. I was at the Tigers/White Sox game yesterday and Carin looked it up on her phone and told me. I just sat there for probably an inning and cried a bit.
God bless him and all of The Allman Brothers Band.

No, I was probably crying because I had to deal with all of the gang bang Whiite Sux fans, most of whom can't speak English. 😮

Seeing Ike Willis tonight. Gregg's death convinced me to go. Was talking to someone outside who's playing tonight and he said they're going to play Whipping Post.
Ike dedicated the show to Gregg last night. They did a really good Whipping Post. Opener did Dreams.
Saddened but like many, I suppose not shocked. Listened to '04 from The Fox in Atlanta yesterday.

I assume Ike Willis of Zappa fame.
What other tunes did he do ?
Listened to quite a few Gregg solo shows the last several days.
All the way back to the 80's and some more recent ones too. With recent word of his declining health I think most everyone knew this was coming shortly. Still have to admit the shock that the time arrived.

Will likely dig out the video from the ABB Lincoln 2010 show and watch it tonight. Last time I saw the full band. Did see Gregg solo last year. Feel fortunate about that.

Played all four sides of Eat a Peach yesterday - my Capricorn vinyl that I have had for over 40 years. It has some pops and crackles, but I wanted to hear it like that. I also listened to the first side of LAFE on the half-speed mastered vinyl that I have. I just couldn't bring myself to play anything with Gregg on it Saturday or Sunday. I'll eventually get to Laid Back, that has always been one of my favorites, and it really represents Gregg to me.
Man, this is a tough one, especially on top of losing Butch.
Yeah, I hear ya. I looked for my vinyl of Laid Back but couldn't find it.
I put Searching for Simplicity on over the weekend. I love that album.

Joe's Garage was the opening song of the night. Cosmic Debris, Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama, Muffin Man, City of Tiny Lights. They played alot of songs from Joes Garage album and others I didn't recognize. Really good night of music.
Told a story on how Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up was the first song he did vocals on in the studio. Frank, Captain Beefhart and someone else was in the control room. Made him really nervous but ended up getting it right in one take..
Ha, thanks for the Ike info, sounds like a good show.
I saw him in a bar in Jacksonville Beach one time years ago. I stumbled into the men's room before the show began and he was in there struggling to get his clothes changes, ha, ha - he said something about no dressing room and seemed mildly embarrassed that he was playing a bar where he had to change his clothes in the freakin men's room.
Greetings ner-do-wells!

I mentioned to THB that I have noticed a lot of fellas of the other persuasion lately. She looked at me and said, and I am paraphrasing, "You've lived here 12 years and you haven't figured that out yet?"
