It is a dry heat and not as hot as say Florida with it's humidity...
But when it's 115 I'm still not going outside.....
To prepare for it, just stick your head in an oven for a while.... 😛
Of course the further north you go in Arizona the more temperate it is - but Phoenix being in a desert, well..... see above...

Oh, and regarding Arizona, wott Sang said is correct. And I will add one other thing. It IS in a desert as he said and Phoenix is also located in kind of a valley. So surprisingly, at least to me, is that it gets really cold at night. Not like winter hat and gloves cold, but the temps drop quite a bit.
