Good afternoon!
Good afternoon.
I always love highly informational articles like this:
3 Reasons Not to Retire Before 66:
1. You'll reduce your Social Security benefits
2. You'll have a longer retirement to fund
3. You may get bored
Didn't read the article but all three points are probably correct.

I think my point is, the 1st two are obvious, at least they should be and the 3rd is just stupid or at minimum highly subjective.
I'm no financial expert but the people writing these articles these days sound like 23 year olds who are discovering what a 401K is for the 1st time (for example.)
Actual information seems to be lacking.
I'll just use my SSI benefits to supplement my income as a gigolo at the old folks home.

If your company does some sort of match, make sure you are at least doing that much. The more you put away, the better off you will be at retirement....

Is that 15 cents or 15 % ? ha, ha - my expert financial advice is going to say if it's the former, no that is not doing alright, that is unless you have already married or intend to marry a rich woman.

My first professional job was with a firm that was publicly traded so obviously there was stock available to anyone. I made $20k a year and it took every dime of that to pay my living costs.
But they gave us a 10% discount to buy the stock. So I would buy the stock (payroll deduction), turn around and sell it to a broker. Guaranteed 10% return on your money? Pretty good.

My company has an ESPP plan where through payroll deduction you can buy company stock with no restrictions on how long you have to hold it before selling, but the kicker is they do a match, very convoluted formula - but a year and a quarter later, they match 50% of what you bought.
Very strange formula as I said, but it is free money, yet there are many coworkers that don't do it, too complicated or maybe they are skeptical or whatever.
Last year it amounted to roughly $8k or $9k in match for me.
My company has a 3% match on all the PowerBall tickets I buy, but they want 50% of the winnings.

I realize that past performance is no predictor of future potential earnings, but - judging on my past (including last night) with tickets, this policy would work out in my favor.
