The Allman Joys, Hourglass and 31st of February Coming out On CD and Vinyl

Posted on Friday, February 14, 2020 - 04:16 PM

EARLY MUSIC FROM MEMBERS OF THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND
TO BE RELEASED ON CD FOR THE FIRST TIME AND ON VINYL
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NEARLY 50 YEARS ON MARCH 27

FOUR COLLECTIONS INCLUDE EARLY GROUPS THE ALLMAN JOYS, HOUR GLASS AND
31 ST  OF FEBRUARY

Special Pre-sale Offer from The Big House Museum
Four CD's plus a Tee Shirt

Very early music from members of the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND will be released on CD for the first time March 27, and vinyl that has been out of print since the late 1960’s will be available as well. In all, four albums will trace three of the band member’s nascent music projects including the Allman Joys, Hour Glass and 31 st  of February.

Formed just out of high school and originally called The Escorts and then Allman Joys, Duane and Gregg Allman recorded the band’s only session work in August 1966, which wouldn’t be released until 1973 and has been out
of print since.  After the Allman Joys went their own ways, Duane and Gregg formed Hour Glass, releasing their self-titled debut in 1967 and Power Of Love in 1968, both on the Liberty label. What is telling in these early recordings are hints of what would become signature Allman Brothers Band sounds. You can hear moments of what would become guitarist Duane Allman’s signature licks, as well as his little brother Gregg’s Hammond B-3 prowess and his soulful, bluesy voice.

Los Angeles – January 14, 2020 – When Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, Dickey Betts, Duane Allman, Jaimoe, and Gregg Allman finally coalesced in 1969 as The Allman Brothers Band, after stints in other bands and musical endeavors – some alone, some with each other – the group’s very first informal jam together was the stomping Muddy Waters song, “Trouble No More.” Almost immediately the six musicians knew they were on to something special. Shortly after, it also became the very first song they officially demoed together for their eponymous debut record, an album that would begin their legendary, unparalleled, and often times, turbulent journey as one of the best American rock bands to ever exist.

The Brothers: March 10 at Madison Square Garden

THE BROTHERS

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF THE MUSIC OF THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND

MARCH 10 AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

TICKET PRESALES JANUARY 7; PUBLIC ON SALE JANUARY 10
Ticket Information at Ticketmaster

The Brothers – Celebrating 50 Years of the music of The Allman Brothers Band will perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City for one night only March 10, 2020. The Brothers—Jaimoe, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Marc Quinones—will be joined by Duane Trucks and Reese Wynans and special guest Chuck Leavell. Ticket presales begin on January 7, with public on sale on January 10 via Ticketmaster (click here).

This one-time concert event, produced by Live Nation, will be a celebration of The Allman Brothers Band’s illustrious career. It notably marks the first time in more than five years that these legendary players will be together on stage to perform their iconic hits, and the first time since the passing of founding members Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks. It will undoubtably be emotionally charged, and an unforgettable night not to be missed.

“I can’t wait to play again with my Brothers.”
--Jaimoe

“From the Fillmore East to the Beacon, NYC has always been a spiritual home for the Allman Brothers. So it only feels natural to honor uncle Butch, Gregg, Berry, Duane and all the other brothers and sisters we have lost along the way here at MSG. I’m excited to get to play these songs with Jaimoe and the Brothers one last time to celebrate 50 years of this music.”
--Derek Trucks

"Hard to believe it’s been five years since our final show at the Beacon. We had all talked about doing a final show at Madison Square Garden which never came to fruition. What a great way to honor 50 years of music and fulfill that wish at the same time.”
--Warren Haynes

“I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Allman Brothers Band’s history for 23 of the 50 years we are about to celebrate. Thank you Butch, Gregg, Jaimoe, Dickey as well as Duane and Berry for giving us the opportunity to play this amazing music for all of our diehard, loyal fans.”
--Marc Quinones

“I’m so glad to get the chance to pay tribute to 50 years of the enduring music of the Allman Brothers Band. I’m blessed to have been a part of their story. It’s gonna be a night to remember.”
--Oteil Burbridge
