First I saw this article in the Macon Telegraph:

ACORN turns in Florida workers

Miami-Armed with a tip from the grassroots group ACORN about its' own workers, authoroties Wednesday began arresting 11 people suspected of falsifying hundreds of voter applications during a registration drive last year.

ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has long been accused by Republican and conservative activists--fed by talk-show hosts--of fraudulently registering voters. But Miami-Dade prosecutors gave credit to the group for coming forward and ACORN officials said they feel vindicated.

So then I go on-line to see if I can find anything to flesh out the news, and find this:

http://biggovernment.com/2009/09/10/chaos-for-glory/#more-274

Where ACORN workers allegedly help a "prostitute" trying to buy a house to where the hookers, watch to see where she claims they come from (and their age) can set up "shop".

"Sex is some kinda dancing. Right?"
"There's a code for prostitution?"

I gotta admit, I was laughing all through the "tax break" part of the video.

Any wrongdoing or criminal activity perpetrated by ACORN should be prosecuted to the fullest possible extent in a court of law, as with everything else.

"ACORN has ascended. They elect our politicians and receive billions in tax money. Their world is a revolutionary, socialistic, atheistic world, where all means are justifiable. And they create chaos, again, for itís own sake. It is time for us to be studying and applying their tactics, many of which are ideologically neutral."

I don't know who you are talking to. My quote came right out of the article Jerry posted. Tells you a little about the guy writing the article.

I'm not sure if you know this, but ACORN is not a government agency.

Proof please. Much info out there to the contrary, and none of the stimulus legislation calls for them to get money directly.

Let's be clear. I'm not a fan of this organization, but let's play it straight.

Didn't you just out yourself as Squatch?

PS: Do you think WD was sexually aroused by your support of him?

I think your obsession with sex might be helped if you got laid once in a while.

Other than that, I am really Fujirich.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=acorn+$53,000,000&am p;aq=f&oq=&aqi=

290 articles.

Pick one for me. I cannot find any that say that they received that figure. I know that they don't apply for grants because that would be public record and there are none that I can find. The stimulus claim is tenuous at best and even John Boehner and John McCain have stated that ACORN "could" receive stimulus funds indirectly, but never statd that they "will."

Wait a second, I just found what you are referring to, the anti-ACORN Michelle Bachmann efforts as reported at the Washington Examiner? That concerns ACORN Housing and their locations across the country. That's a little different. They do get Federal funds to help people get HUD homes and counsel people when they need help with mortgages, foreclosures, etc. When I was in the subprime business they probably also used those funds to go after lenders like us for unfair practices, waste of time (at least with us) as that may have been.

Those are all registered non-profits. While I don't see anything sinister in funds going to non-profits that help people get houses, I can see where others might, I guess. If you are upset about non-profits getting Federal funds then that is a lot older than Obama.

Perhaps conservatives get so upset about this money because it didn't go towards war and death?

Maybe you should write your beloved President a letter and tell him to get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan? I'd be all for that. Wouldn't you?

Maconga gets his ass kicked, time to change the subject.

Sure. I'd like for the wars to end. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen in a hurry. As a matter of fact, I don't think we'll ever leave those countries. However, there is no shortage of conservatives that had no problem spending American blood and money to help create an Islamic Republic in Iraq, but since the boss has changed we're all supposed to forget that. As a matter of fact, lately those same folks are acting like the biggest peaceniks in history.

You have no other comment to the rest of what I posted?

There were also many that didn't. Besides, I'm talking about people outside of Washington as well.

To be honest, once you start with your first grade level remarks about bodily functions, start scolding everyone for how you think they should act or continue your obsession with certain people here, I stop reading. If your stance on the wars was in there somewhere, I must have missed it.

You still have no comment on what we were originally talking about, you know, ACORN? Are you seriously trying to swerve away from the original point where you thought you had one up on me and got smug about it?

Any organization that exists solely to add voters to the rolls in this country is furthering the cause of Democracy and should be unequivocally supported by all parties. Furthermore, they deserve credit for policing themselves and reporting those who abuse the system to the proper authorities. The problem lies not with ACORN but with a distinct minority of their paid volunteers who choose to falsify information rather than going out and doing the job they are paid to do, which is register new voters, and in the process, make our Democracy that much more representative of its citizens.

THIS. Well said.

ACORN should not be allowed. It skirts on the edge of being illegal, and the videos posted prove just that. Do I know if the claims at the end of that video are true? No idea. There ARE articles on it, so the "possibility" of that happening are VERY true.

Alright. Your opinion and a fair way of looking at it.

The fact that MSNBC or CNN didn't report it will never stand up with you, as everything they report is truth and nothing else is.

Whoa. Now you are just flat out lying and attempting to portray me as something I am not. I've bagged on MSNBC countless times. Ask anyone here. I don't watch it. I dont' watch much CNN, either. I have a young child and a very active life outside of work. I don't watch a lot of cable news. Don't have the time.

Good answers. Instead of acting like an idiot (which I figured you might), you actually were to the point, and not a total a-hole. I respect that.

Congratulations, Bhawk. Maconga doesn't think you are an a-hole. Of course, he doesn't think he is an a-hole either so I'm not sure what his opinion is worth.

How so? Do you really mean to say that we should ban voter registration groups? Gov. George Wallace would no doubt approve.

Lost cause here... Maconga apparently doesnt understand the difference between voter fraud and voter registration fraud. Meanwhile, GOP backed companies like Diebold have been exposed as having virtually no security on their machines allowing people to manipulate the outcome of elections. A number of people were recently arrested for this very thing. THATS a problem...some yayhoo putting bs names on voter registration cards means little..."Mickey Mouse" isnt going to show up to vote.

Long before a whole lot of other businesses were open in New Orleans, the ACORN office on Elysian fields was open. I don't know what else they were doing, but I know the had volunteers going door to door in the community, asking people their thoughts on what was going well in the city, what needed improvement, and those sorts of things. I know they were doing a lot more, but I saw this first hand, as one of them came to my house.

No projection. You support people like prostitutes and people of that ilk. You think that what was portrayed in the video is perfectly acceptable - as long as they agree with you.

Curious though, do you mean to say that unregistered voters are thugs and low-lifes? Or to say that thugs and low-lifes don't deserve the right to vote? Do tell.

Read my last response. It pertains to this as well. You support convicts and people of such ilk - again - as long as they agree with you. You'd support murderers as well - as long as they agree with you. You've obviously no morals.

Plus - you hate white people. Racist.

Saving this for the next time Maconga22 tells us how wonderful he is.......

Oh Marc, you really should watch the video. First time I looked at it I was expecting someone to jump out and say "Live From New York----" I mean I literally was laughing so hard i hurt, until I realized that this was real, and serious.

In the video they tell the girl how to evade her taxes on money earned as a prostitute.
What tax codes she should use to help her get a loan for the house she wants to open, featuring teenagers from Central America.
"Honey if they don't have Social Security numbers, since they aren't citizens, don't worry about them."
"No, you're not a prostitute, you're a "performance artist"

Actually I recommend the videos to everybody, since they might be pulled any time soon.
Seems like some other people were interested in the videos.

I tend to think that criminal charges may be in the future for those two workers, and an investigation of practices of that office. At least ACORN fired them today.
