It was directed by Peter Bogdanovch(?) and it was 4 hours long.

I got up to the Wildflowers sessions and there was another hour to go.

Really interesting, esp the whole "Damn the Torpedos" segment.

I caught it Sunday afternoon but noticed it was 4 hours long and flipped the channel about 10 minutes in. I'd like to catch it when I have four hours to burn in front of the tube as it seemed very interesting. I don't normally get the Sundance channel but it happened to be part of the free weekend preview mumbo-jumbo that Dish Network constantly has available. I'm thinking I should subscribe to it but I'm reluctant to purchase the other **** ty 50 channels or whatever I'll need to pay for each month in order to get it. Too bad as it seems as though they have great programing.

I didn't catch the Petty segment but while we're on the subject of the Sundance channel, yeah, it's got some great stuff going. "Live at Abbey Road" every Thursday night is a weekly one hour segment which features three artists per week performing at Abbey Road studios. Variety is the name of the game; I watched a recent segment which featured The Gypsy Kings, a female vocalist named Natasha Peningfield (sp?), and Iron Maiden. You don't get a whole lot more genre bending than that!

I have for years had the IFC channel which also has great variety. I think IFC and Sundance would be a great one, two punch.......Caught the Tom dowd biography a few weeks ago on IFC. Fantastic movie!

Yes, but maybe the last two hours. Not sure, I was working at the same time in my home office, but I found the film interesting but at times somewhat self-congratulatory while trying to be open about the personnel struggles in the band , but, coming up somewhat vague about them. He has been extremely successful and continues to plug away. His sales are impressive . He has a Very talented lead guitar player who I agree is somewhat of a best-kept secret and they have one hell of a key board player as well. Tom needs to keep the beard on don't you think?

Yes. He has not aged well, based on some of those beardless interviews.

The standoff between him and the label reps for Roger McGuinn WAS priceless.

I have watched the whole 4 hrs. and is a must for Petty fans. Even if you're lukeworm for him, he has fought the industry in keeping prices down for fans and has had the courage to take on the industry in fighting for his rights and the rights of others.

I have DISH satellite and a channel they carry called the "DOCUMENTARY Channel' carried the Tom Petty thing the other evening. Yea.....4 hours long.....missed the first part and cut the switch near the end but all-in-all a pretty good film. Gave me a little more appreciation for him than I've had. I've always like some of his more obscure cuts versus the 'hits'......
