I got a Goodsell "Super 17" head last week.

We had 3 local gitar-pickers sit in with us on the 4th of July, and one of them owns a local shop. He brought a Goodsell combo for himself, and a head/cab for me....after I played it, I couldn't let him take it back!

I played it next to my 74 deluxe reverb, and there was no comparing the clarity and headroom....wow.....

now, I've decided to ditch the Line-6 POD XT LIVE for analog Boss pedals.....

...there goes the $ I had saved for Chevelle parts

the amp

Me and the man himself, Richard Goodsell...a genuinely nice guy!

Nah, his shop is in Atlanta...he was delivering two of the amps in that pic...I made sure to be there when he was for a foto op!

Best sounding amp I ever had...a 1 knobber...1948 Supro...sitting in an attic in Smithville, Missouri.

You do realize that an EL84-based amp won't sound like a 6V6 amp, right?

My Matchless (SC30 w/EL84s) sounds superb, but when I need the sound of a Deluxe Reverb, I use my, umm, Deluxe Reverb. There's no comparison. Tom

For general purpose use(bars, clubs, from super clean ballads to ZZ Top crunch)....my deluxe can't touch this Goodsell...hands down....not happenin. And my Deluxe was better than my twin...

*however*

My strat doesn't have the classic twang through the naked Goodsell like the naked fender(no effects)

I couldn't tell you the difference between a 6V6, 6L6, or anything else....I just know what sounds good for my wide application

My point is that you're comparing apples and oranges. I'm glad you're enjoying your new amp.
