I just have to start a thread here and say.......how freaking cool is Widespread Panic? i've never seen them live, but i have all (or most) of their studio work, and thanks to many fine friends around here i also lots of their live works.

just this week, i've found myself dancing my ass off in my living room to them out of pure joy for the music........and then again while driving.

such a totally cool vibe, and the singer dude has an awesome voice.

great band! here here!

I'll second your nomination Linnie. My daughter came in from out of town and we wanted to go to a show. WSP was the only ticket in town, so we went. What a fantastic high-energy show!!! Everyone in the venue was on their feet the entire time. The crowd was pretty young, compared to typical ABB shows.

Although Dave Schools is an awesome bass player, I agree with someone who posted that the band is much greater than the sum of their parts. The other players are not the op of the heap, but put them together, and you have a great band.

The only bummer for me is that they are not playing close enough to home this summer.

I just got into this band. They really lay down a groove and the thing that separates them from the average jam band is that they have great great songs.

I've listened to a little, liked what I heard. Helps the next generation separate real talent from fluff. The producer of their earlier albums, Johnny Sandlin, has set up a recording facility here.

Pick up their first two studio albums. I'd place those two albums up there with the best studio albums of any band, ever...

And I'm not saying that lightly....I love those two albums, tremendously....

Tied for my fav band with the Bros.

If you want something live, get "Light Fuse, Get Away". One of the best live album's ever and is filled with their early stuff.

Never have seen them either, they never seem to come to the northeast within reasonable distance from me... my own fault. My favorite group next to the ABB as well, I love their percussionist Sonny Ortiz

They're playing a 3-night stand here in Chicago in August at the Chicago Theatre on a weekend. Got great seats for the Fri and Sat shows. It'll be my first time seeing them live. Looking forward to it. Wish the ABB would play the same place again.

I was lucky enough to see these guys way back on the H.O.R.D.E. tour (anyone remember that annual tour?) when the ABB were making their triumphant return and Blues Traveler was huge. They were pretty unknown then, but boy, they could play. Unfortunately, they haven't been anywhere near Upstate, Central, or Western NY since. Would love to see them at Hunter Mountain for Mountain Fest in a few years....Warren, make the call, brother! Yeah, I know, they're too big now.

Saw these guys for the first time last year at Jazz Aspen Snowmass festival, and my goodness did they tear it up! Their new guitar player George McConnell absolutely shredded. This band is the real deal.

I've got my tix for Cleveland. Unfortunately, I'm gonna miss their Chicago Run. Always a treat of having 3 nights at The Chicago Theater.

What would J.B. do?
