I don't have any reason not to believe most of this story. Two Harley's in the living room of a second floor apartment though? That one's a bit hard to swallow.

I don't think his hair was long enough for a
'long blond ponytail' in 68 and I don't think the brothers
had motorcycles when they lived in LA

Aside from the silliness of 2nd floor Harleys

He didn't have a Hammond then, it would have been borrowed

Yeah pops42. That one doesn't ring true. I don't think Duane was worried about his brother leaving The Hourglass to join Poco. Duane was done with The Hourglass. When Liberty Records refused to release the blues based album they recorded at Muscle Shoals for their third album Duane quit. Duane wasn't going to do another album where the lable dictated everything. Interestingly the ABB got a little of that again when they signed with Arista in 1980. When Gregg told Liberty the other guys had scattered, supposedly they said...we don't care about those guys anyway. You are the only one with a chance to make it. You stay here and record the next album solo or we will sue all of you. They gave Gregg a stack of songs to record including Tanmy Wynette's D I V O R C E. That would have been Gregg's first solo album but they didnt release it and Gregg said it was just awful and he was glad it didnt come out. But years later some of it got released as extra tracks on a CD reissue of the two Hourglass albums.

The Hourglass Muscle Shoals session that Liberty rejected, some of those tracks found their way onto the two Duane Allman Anthology albums Capricorn put out in 1972 and 1974. The 1972 release sold over 600,000 copies and went Gold.

Most ABB fans were just sick that Duane had died. Duane had an energy, determination, an aura, a guru type spiritual thing that just a few people exhibit as has been said so often. Noticed APaul mentioned that in his ZOOM interview. The Allman Brothers never had that again but I'm sure Duane's memory and spiritual presence was in some of the players minds going forward.

Gregg living in a seedy part of LA back then sounds right but how did he afford that fancy Harley and he apparently didn't take it to Jacksonville when he was the last guy to join the Allman Brothers.

Also I thought the first bikes they bought once they had some money were Triumphs.

Sounds like the years have twisted up the story.
