Its sad that the whole event wasn't released as a documentary.

Yes it is a shame. Apparently in 1971 nobody realised what a religious like shrine for live music it would become. "Okay The Allman Brothers Band". That introduction sounds as if the guy didn't know his voice would end up on millions of different records, tapes and CDs. Fillmore East sold over 1 million and 1991's A Decade of Hits sold over 2 million and it's the first track on that compilation ABB album. I bet he didn't know at the time just how iconic that concert would be come. Just made the introduction and wandered back stage for a beer.

Bill recorded everything at his shows, it's hard for me to believe that this whole event wasn't recorded.

Here is an alternate version of the introduction and song from a different show at the Fillmore East.

Michael Ahern was born in 1947 and died in 2015. He was a concert and show producer who produced some of the 9/11 rememberence shows in Manhatten, produced The Rolling Stones show in Ireland and in 1971 was the stage manager in New York for Bill Graham.

The article mentions that The Fillmore East was opened in March 1968. Anyone know why Bill Graham decided to close the place after only 3 years? I never knew until now that it was only open for 3 years.
