Here is a youtube playlist of the album NIGHT

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9Wy2t0R3TimFRkZ7SnQqqbm7Cr70hqvg

Interesting that this version of "Nancy" is different than the one included on Dreams, which has more polished production. Makes me think these are demos, and maybe there are even more polished versions of these songs.

This is cool. The only track I heard was Nancy on the Dreams box set.

Anybody know exactly why it was never released? Clive Davis/Arista Records not interested with Dickey still under contract is my guess.

I remember Gregg solo at a theater in Winston Salem, North Carolina in early 1983 and he did a phone in to the rock radio station and said they parked the Allman Brothers due to changing musical tastes but mostly because the record label they went with after Capricorn kept sticking their nose in our recording sessions and the last one told is who the producer would be and he will help us update our sound so we can have some hits like the Doobie Brothers after they modified their sound with Michael McDonald. Gregg said Arista refuses to let us record our third album for them the way we want and we refuse to do it their way so Gregg said he is shut out of the studio right now until he can get out from under Arista Records.

So that was my guess as to why Dickey's solo album from 1981 never was released.

I have a vinyl copy of Kitty Wells Capricorn album. It didn't sell so Capricorn didn't do a second one as far as I know. Dickey, if I remember correctly, is credited on dobro but I can spot Dickey on a solo either. But I do hear a Dobro on a couple of tracks in the rhythm mix so I assume that is Dickey. But no solo I noticed.

The Kitty Wells album happens to be the very first thing I ever purchased via the internet, circa 2000. Anybody remember the GEMM website? Good times.

But yeah, I don't hear Dickey anywhere on it. There's a couple of licks that kind of sound like Toy Caldwell, who's also in the credits, but those aren't real prominent either. Clearly the focus was on Kitty, as it should be.

Tommy Talton is also credited for playing dobro on that album along with Dickey.

I had a quick look on discogs https://www.discogs.com/Kitty-Wells-Forever-Young/release/3899250

There's an asterix against Dickey's name and also an asterix against three tracks on side 2 so I'm guessing these are the ones Dickey played on. Could easier be wrong though.

Another obscure entry.

Both Gregg & Dickey appear on Gary Stewart's album "Cactus & A Rose."

Although he doesn't appear on it, Hank Jr. covered Dickey's "I Got A Right To Be Wrong" on the album "Rowdy."

"Hank Williams Junior-Junior" (with Dickey Betts & Kris Kristofferson) (Dickey Betts, Bonnie Bramlett) – 2:44

David Allen Coe's album I've Got Something to Say, Dickey sings and plays on that cut.

Great clarinet solo too and unmistakably Dickey Betts. Like some other guitar greats, Dickey has is own unique style and sound. You can tell it's Dickey when Dickey solos right off.

I'm rather sure this track was recorded about 1996 or 1997 and is on a various artists album that features the songs of the great Jimmy Rogers, the great yodeling western swing singer and song writer.

Thank you sir!
Did some research-- the only album this appears on is a compilation called "Roots and Branches" which covers the years 1963-75. So it would appear to be an outtake from the "...And Friends" album that also included Toy and Charlie, et al. I haven't been able to confirm that it's Dickey playing the solo but it certainly sounds like him. Nice find.

Dickey does a couple of nice guest spots on Pedro & Friends Too, esp My Baby’s Gone - that is a Fine CD, everyone is on it, great vibe :chillzone: & their take of Hendrix’ My Friend Fits Right In

Pedro Arevalo has sort of become a forgotten man seems to me - hope this great musician is well & happy, I just don’t keep up as well w/music as I used to
