War it is! I'm wondering what the story behind Eric Burdon leaving mid tour in 1970 was

It would be interesting as I believe War and the Animals would of been huge if Burdon stayed in either band.

This "Rock band "was formed in 2001 and has released 6 albums along with 2 Ep's. They have a song that shares the same title as a Allman Bros song. The name of the band is after a type of cigar.

Los Tiparillos

Common song title: In Memory of Elizabeth Weed

The band is classified as a rock band but definitely has southern rock roots. I guess being from the Bluegrass state may be a reason why.

This band was named after the hometown of its main members. 2019 saw the release of this band's first album of all new recordings in 30 years. One of their early hits had a promo video done in old silent film style with a classic "damsel in distress on railroad tracks" sequence.

Extra points if you post a link to that video - I couldn't find it - pre MTV maybe lost forever

yes, I do

This band originally had 2 guitar players, bass, and drums
One of the founding guitar players left and became a born again Christian
He was replaced by a keyboard player, the other original members are still with the band

While I think up a band, here are a couple of thoughts about Black Oak Arkansas.

Although probably obscure to most now, at their peak they were a pretty big act. It always seemed to me that their marketing and image got them noticed at first, but ultimately limited them. But it's easy to imagine a young David Lee Roth being influenced by "Jim Dandy" Mangrum's stage persona.

English Band/American Band

This band had their beginnings in England in the late 60's, but primarily known as an early 70's band. They are known as being heavy organ-based, with gothic influences. Their music is primarily heavy/complex/prog rock. Their band name is literary-derived (clue!).

They have produced 24 studio albums and sold over 45 million albums world-wide. They have performed (with various members) well into the 21st century, but are apparently more popular outside of the U.S. than within the U.S. (not much of a clue).

They changed their band name when originally being formed from "Spice" (just an info-bit, not a clue). They were influenced by the American band, described further below.

American band:
This late 60's band is from Long Island, and known for heavy organ/slow tempo songs (clue), composed of organ, guitar, bass, and drums. The drummer is a pretty well-known drummer (clue).

They were an influence on the English band above and Deep Purple.

Two of the band members later formed a group with a well-known English guitarist (clue!)

Name the English band, and bonus for naming the American band.

Carmine Appice?

Improvisational prog rock, acid jazz, space rock, this group has always defied description. Formed in Paris in 1967 by a former member of Soft Machine - numerous line-ups, still performing. During the late 70s early 80s they had a nomadic following in Europe, similar to the American "Deadhead" phenomenon.

It was difficult to come up with a clue, the wiki on this group is endless, gotta be a great book
written or could be on them.

Great sound btw, if you are in explore mode check em out!

Jeez Brer, is it Gong?

You're making me think of Steve Hillage or Ozric Tentacles.

Yes, Gong. Pretty sure Steve Hillage played with them at some point. Gong is strange - it has been several very different sounding groups. Lineup changes it just moves on. Would have been fun following em around Europe to the summer festivals, I know zero about the Euro hippie era.
