RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's appearance at this year's Coachella was first revealed in November when an Instagram account with the handle "rageagainstthemachine" shared a list of 2020 dates.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE last played together in 2011 at L.A. Rising and has resisted calls for a reunion, with vocalist Zach De La Rocha previously believed to be the lone holdout. Guitarist Tom Morello and his fellow RAGE bandmates Tim Commerford (bass) and Brad Wilk (drums) have since teamed up with PUBLIC ENEMY's Chuck D. and CYPRESS HILL's B-Real in the similarly styled PROPHETS OF RAGE.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE recorded three original studio albums and one set of covers before breaking up in 2000. The group reformed in 2007 but only played sporadic gigs and never a full tour. Morello said in 2012, "We'd have to agree to go on one. Once a year, the band meets and very seriously discusses and turns down awesome offers to tour the world."

Never could get into them but have 2 nephews that are die hard fans.

I also was just a bit surprised when Springsteen announced that Tom Morello was the best guitarist in music today.

C'mon Bruce!

In!!!!

I didn’t even hear Rage until about 2010 when I stumbled into them. So very excited for th chance to see them.

Morello is very very good. Really versatile.

I like Comeford too on bass.

I'm definitely a fan! Have seen them and it was high energy!

Maybe Bruce was responding to the interview Tom did with GW Mag. In it, they asked Tom what he learned from playing with Springsteen and he said two things:
1. Bruce would call out a song in front of 50,000 that the band had never played and so he learned how to learn a song on the fly with that kind of pressure and...
2. He learned that the person who is most excited to be at a Bruce Springsteen concert......is Bruce Springsteen!!

High praise, indeed!

I have some thoughts on this. I will preface this with I abhor Rage. Not my cup of tea. I went to a Steve Earle show several years ago right before the holidays and Steve's wife did a nice 30 minute set and she ended with Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas. Nice.

I noticed all these people crushing down front and I couldn't figure out why. Well Tom Morello was the actual opener. I had no clue who he was. He put on a pretty good thing. I didn't really care for it but I had to admit the guy can play. Still didn't understand why he would open a Steve Earle show of all things. Then I learned later it was probably because of similar political leanings.

Bruce comes out with a 2014 album called High Hopes. Tom Morello is on some it. Little Stevie couldn't make the tour so Bruce gets Morello (again the political thing I think). Morello's work on this blows me out of the water. They take the song "The Ghost of Tom Joad" to another level. Watching Morello on the video of it makes it even better. That guy can flat out play.

Now back to the original point. For Bruce to say that is puzzling to me. I don't know why he would say that when he has had one of the best guitarists on earth IMO in Nils Lofgren for over three decades. If I were Nils I might be kind of offended. And nothing againt Little Stevie but Nils (and probably Morello) are better than him. I still think Nils is the best guitar player Bruce has ever had in his own band.
