Brady leaves the Patriots. Will they find a Steve Young/Aaron Rodgers to take up a legend's mantle or is this the end? Will the Bears tell Trubisky to work from home?

Watch the Pats trade up to get this kid Herbert from Oregon

Rivers signs with the Colts. Doesn't really move the needle for either, just a stop gap. Indy gets a veteran QB while they pick up the pieces and Rivers gets one last pay day.

Rivers leaving fits the rumors that were floating around a few weeks ago; Brady has a home in L.A.

Thatís what Iím thinking too, heíll be in LA/calif - or maybe Lions, he was a hero at UMich too, but why would he subject himself to that
Why the eff would he want to relocate in the 1st place is what many people are asking - but they all do

Itíll be as odd seeing those guys in other uniforms next season (if there is one) as it was seeing Johnny U a Chargah, & Broadway Joe an LA Ram at the end of Their careers, also Montana a KC Chief

Unlike Raymond Bourque before him, however, I donít think TB will win another SB - still has the game yes, but not the surrounding players

Yeah...I'm here in Indy and from what I can tell so far from public consensus is about split down the middle.

I am ..meh. I don't think it makes them more of a contender. I think outside of Bouroughs the QB draft is not that strong. Tua's hip could be worrisome. They did sign DeForest Buckner DT from the 49ers for there 13th first round pick.

I guess we will see what Bill Belichick will do and prove his greatness. The AFC east might finally be more of a race. NE beat up on that weak division for years.

Not sure what The Texans were thinking about getting rid of Hopkins.

Brady signs the contract tomorrow with Tampa Bay.

Drew Brees with a 2 yr. 50 million dollar contract. How sweet it is.

Nor the caliber of coaching, plus the indifferent fan support down there.......doesnít make sense -

heíll finish his career as Paul Pierce did, w/more than 1 team & doing well -

Paul was on bench & not playing at the very end in LA
Envision Tom ending his career as Ty Cobb did w/Phila Aís after 22 years in Detroit - two final solid years, riding the pine at the very end

I don't think BA is no slouch either.
He likes to get the ball down field and have his QB's sit back and launch bombs. I am not sure TB has the arm to do that anymore over 16 plus games.
Better have an O line in place to protect him ,cause he does not like getting his pants dirty.
So Bruce might have to rethink his game plan.

No QB likes to get his pants dirty, it means the O line isnít doing the job - it could all be moot anyway if they call off the season - they might be able to start training camps in Sept or so w/the idea of an 8 game season - baseball looks like a no go for 2020 - but yes, BA is a good coach too - not in Belichickís league but who is

For longevity & career #s, yes - heís probly not on a par with the other 3 but I put Rivers above people like Warren Moon, Vinny Testaverde, Steve DeBerg & other longtimers - would rate Marino, PManning above Rivers

Imho, the list of "GOAT" QB's is very short and Phillip Rivers is not even close.

Rivers is probably one of the greatest QBs to never make it to a Super Bowl (well, so far I guess). He lead the Chargers to some great seasons, but the team always choked it away in the playoffs. Rivers has put up some big numbers - hasn't missed a start since he took over for Brees which is impressive for a QB who gets as knocked around has he has. I wouldn't put him with the top of the elite next to Montana or Brady either, but he's in that next tier.

Chicago Bears are trading for Nick Foles and signing Jimmy Graham. Their GM must be a Packers fan.

I would agree with that. "Unfortunately" for Rivers, that is an extremely big tier that includes everyone from Roethlisberger to Moon and Hadl to McNabb...

It would be a real shame if coronavirus ended the careers of players like Brady, Brees, Rivers, Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau - and other older athletes like LeBron - these are special career-records players who probly dislike this invisible scourge more than anyone

The Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo are likely to be cancelled, radio just said

A great American tradition has succumbed to CV - the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, cancelled
You know they wonít have the famous Nathanís Coney Island hot dog eating contest this year - can hardly wolf down those dogs thru a face mask

The economic toll caused by the lockdown, is certainly as bad as the medical toll caused by the virus - the economic toll, like the virus, could prove fatal to some

PPD, to 2021
Hockey, MLB, hoops - March Madness, Kentucky Derby, perhaps The US Open
All a no go

The NFL imo will be the litmus test
enough cancellations have been made - there should still be enough time to plan now to open training camps in Sept as usual - a semblance of normalcy would be a welcome relief & its own medicine-
unless, of course, people are dying at an alarming rate from it, God Forbid, over the summer

Carolina releases Cam Newton rather unceremoniously for a guy who holds so many of Carolina's passing records (not that it can be hard to top Jake Delhomme and Kerry Collins as long you stick around for a few seasons).

LA teams both unveiled new logos. New uniforms to come. Chargers logo looks fine, but the Rams "LA" is a bit of a mess. Hopefully they stay close to the classic LA Rams look and don't mess with the horn.

Other than a few teams that have done some minimal clean up to their jerseys and logos (Miami, Detroit, Minnesota, Jax, Buffalo) Nike has not done well with major NFL uniform redesigns. The Bucs, Browns, Titans, Seahawks, Jets, all got uglier under the swoosh's watch. The Browns and Bucs were so bad, they're both getting fresh uniforms this year after sporting their last redesigns for the minimum 5 seasons. Word is the Falcons are also getting new uniforms.

Philip Rivers = not a Hall of Famer. Stats are skewed in today's game, stats don't make a great QB. Can think of a lot of better QBs who have been forgotten through the years, like Ken Anderson to name just one.

The NFL's anticipated playoff expansion officially passed.

League owners voted to approve expanding the postseason to 14 teams beginning in the 2020 season, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source.

The decision came during a conference call Tuesday, which took place in lieu of the NFL's Annual League Meeting, which was canceled earlier this month as part of the league's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Changing the playoff format required approval from three-quarters of the 32 NFL owners.

In the new format, AFC and NFC Wild Card games will feature the 2 seed hosting the 7 seed, the 3 seed hosting the 6 seed and the 4 seed hosting the 5 seed.

The league announced NBC and CBS would broadcast the additional wild card games. NFL Wild Card Weekend will include three games Saturday, Jan. 9 and another three games Sunday, Jan. 10. In addition to CBS' extra broadcast on Jan. 9 -- which also will be carried via a livestream on CBS All Access -- the NFL noted a separately produced telecast of the game will air on Nickelodeon, tailored for a younger audience.

The NBC game on Jan. 10 also will be aired on the network's new streaming service, Peacock, as well as Telemundo.

The expanded format, which was agreed to in the new CBA, added one team per conference, creating six total wild card slots. Per league data, since 1990, when the playoffs expanded from 10 to 12 teams, 44 of the 60 teams that would have claimed the seventh seeds had winning records, including 10 different 10-win teams. Only the 1990 Dallas Cowboys would have made the playoffs with a losing record over that span in a 14-team format.

Adding an additional playoff team in each conference means only the No.1 seeds in the AFC and NFC will earn a postseason bye, a massive advantage to the top club each year. While it's been suggested that adding playoff teams could dilute the regular season, with the No. 1 spot earning an even bigger advantage than previous seasons, it could make the final weeks for vital for clubs battling for postseason position.

The move to 14 playoff teams means 43.7 percent of all NFL teams would qualify for the postseason, compared to 33.3 percent in MLB (33.3), 51.6 in NHL and 53.3 in NBA.

Voting on other potential 2020 changes, including proposed rule adjustments, is currently expected to take place at the league meeting presently scheduled for mid-May, NFL Network's Judy Battista previously reported.
