It is not a coincidence that cities with the worst crime & homelessness problems (Chicago, New York, Baltimore, SanFran.....) have been under liberal leadership for a very long time. Keep trying the same liberal policies and expecting a different outcome....... equals insanity.

Don't get me wrong it's still Trumps fault because well everything is his fault. Just hope he doesn't screw up this Obama economy!

Fault? No, you are being called out on your fake hypocritical outrage over decency. You gave up that privilege when you cast your vote for Trump. And by the way, Chicago, NYC, and SF are among the most prosperous cities in the world....way to own those Dems!

Are not the Democrats the party of the “little people”? How does homelessness, poverty, crime and ignorance factor into the “prosperous” argument?

I hear both parties boast about that, and I ignore it all. But I don’t remember anyone ever saying they are for the little people at the expense of building greatness.

Tell me why this is a Federal issue?

Ooo! Ooo! Smug and obtuse! I love smug and obtuse!

I’m just following the President’s lead here, man. He keeps taking a Congressman to task for the shape that Baltimore is in so obviously it’s a Federal thing? No?

Congress, as in a more localized issue. I'll wager the Congressman in that district is a Democrat.

Try to follow.

Congress isn't a part of the Federal government? Learn something new every day!

Sorry that you didn't understand that Congress is the local elected officials in the federal government. Congressional Representatives are voted in every 2 years while the Senate is voted in every 6 years. congressmen serve population districts while Senators serve for half of each state.

The congressman for Baltimore area is a Democrat.

Baltimore Mayors that have served by way of corruption, kickbacks, bribery, a "turn of the nose", and ignoring the illegal activities (crime) and murder rate going up during their terms.

Most recently, Catherine Pugh: under investigation by the IRS and FBI over kickbacks and the sale of massive numbers of her self published children's book to people wanting contracts with the city
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake: The "give them room to destroy' mayor, also investigated and forced to reimburse her campaign fund (she decided not to run) since somewhere around $250,000 mas unaccounted for. It was found that some of it went to Pugh's campaign fund.
Sheila Dixon: indited on 12 felony and misdemeanor charges (one bad one was misappropriation of funds, gift cards for poor people).
Thomas D'Alesandro III followed in his father's footsteps and apparently did nothing to curb the crime in Baltimore
Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr. the Baltimore mayor that JFK wanted investigated due to racketeering, influence peddling, and bribes.

Note: all listed are/were Democrats. One Republican has been elected mayor 1963-1967. Several Democratic mayors seem to have tried to reduce crime.

Special note on the funny?? side is that Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr. was father to, and Thomas III is the brother of
Nancy D"Alesandro, who married to Paul Pelosi in 1963.

Well damn. Guess all my learnin’ pales in comparison to Vince and Jerry being better and smarter than me. Guess I forgot!

Still would love to hear how the Republicans and the President are gonna help the plight of the inner cities.

The lack of success by the Democrats on this issue might require some attention by Republicans, but it is not the responsibility of the Feds. THAT is why cities elect people to represent them at the LOCAL level. If that fails it is on the local branches of Gubmint, not the Feds.

There is no sugar coating Baltimore's warts -Boarding houses, drugs, crime, crime as a way of life, addicts, life in some parts of Baltimore seems unreal. I catch a view from the window of Amtrak and see a waste land and can only wonder how things got so bad. Pres Trump holds people accountable, starting with those who represent these areas in Washington D>C.

Does Trump hold son in law Kushner accountable for massive code violations in Baltimore rental properties he owns?

What a bleeping playground like response.

Democratic policies created this mess and you know it. Admit it, then let's hear what LOCAL leadership should do to repair it!

LOL, now people are faking knowledge about Baltimore to justify fake outrage. So sad. I can respect the line, “I don’t know sh*t about Baltimore but I’m glad Trump is speaking up against Cummings’ remarks.” But no, the moron googles Baltimore and pretends to know something about it.

Fact - Plenty of Kushner's accumulation of wealth is on the back of people where he acted as a slumblord and piled up violation after violation. See Baltimore. Yet Trump again attacks an African American Congressman. No pattern in play here?

Trump is a racist plain and simple, but you will deny that. I previously asked you if he was a racist, and you said no. I assume you still stick to that line? The evidence and his own words are hard to dispute.

There is plenty of blame to go around in places like Baltimore - local, state, and federal governments. Localities are not autonomous entities in the USA.

Why don't you ever offer any alternaives or ideas?

Oh, that's right. Libertarians don't really exist. They're just Republicans that use "Libertariansism" whenever they find Republicans distasteful.

Just exactly what is it that you are hoping I might have an idea for? I am far from being a problem solving elected official. I am not an economist. I will defer to the ones who place their knowledge, skill-sets and claims at being able to fix issues... These are the people currently in charge of these cities, the experts. When they are the heads of municipalities that are failing on almost every level, I see nowhere else to place the blame for poverty and crime. People have voted in Baltimore just like they do in Omaha, Portland and Savannah. Why are these select cities always at the bottom?..The collapse of the family?..Lack of value placed on education?.. No available jobs?

Or is it Democratic policies that continue to fail?

YOU tell me.

Careful buddy. You are describing hundreds, if not thousands, of Republican-led municipalities across america’s Heartland and South, in trailer park communities or low-income rural communities. Your scapegoat game is riddled with holes.

Fair enough Pal. Then my point is leveled towards ALL municipalities where government is failing at the LOCAL level, it is not the responsibility of the Feds to accomplish these needs in which progress was promised by politicians regardless of which party is in the White House.

Chicago & Baltimore were the 2 cities mentioned that generated my initial response, both of which have Democratic leadership.

Well, you've stated it with emotion and passion, therefore it is a fact.

Let me ask you this, "Would you buy a house in one one of Baltimore's 'downtrodden' areas"?

You know, to show your support and to let everyone know you're not racist?

C'mon man, why not?..Property can be had for next to nuthin'!

Well, if I was looking for property in Baltimore, maybe. Anybody on this site who has read my posts would know I'm a liberal, don't shy away from it, don't hedge my positions like some people on here, and am not a racist. My posts speak for themselves. As a matter of fact, part of my family is white and part is black. But thanks for asking.

What is more impressive is how you cherry pick lines and omit the lines of significance. Let me repeat the entire line from the original post for significance and perspective where I asked you a direct question. Maybe this time you'll tell us that Trump isn't a racist.

Re: Trump being a racist -

Why don't you check out what the latest poll speaks to Trump's racism. This is an astonishing % for a sitting President but well earned.

Half of American voters in a new poll say they consider President Trump to be racist, despite the president maintaining he is the "least racist person anywhere in the world."

The Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday found that 51 percent of American voters said "yes" when asked if they thought Trump was racist, while 45 percent said "no."

Among African Americans, 80 percent said they consider Trump to be racist. Just 11 percent of African Americans said they do not think Trump is racist, according to the poll.

More than half of Latinos, 55 percent, said the president is racist, while 46 percent of white respondents said they agree that Trump is racist.

Suppose Elijah Cummings or John Lewis or Barack Obama pointed out that Mitch McConnell represents a state where graduation rates are low, incest rates are high, and trailer park cockroaches die from all the meth-cooking fumes in the air.

Would Trump-defenders think this is okay? Just policy talk? Just stating the facts? Volunteer to move to a trailer park in Eastern Kentucky? Melt? Start bashing McConnell? Just say this is a completely normal way for our leaders to act?

A) If the shoe fits....Maybe some truth there and definitely some bad local leadership at hand.

2) I certainly wouldn't call it "racist" just because a criticism was directed at someone with a different skin color, that's a Democrat thing.

I can’t use Obama as an example because we know he would never go there, but if Cummings said this while campaigning, I’d want to do everything in my power to keep him as far away from Washington as possible. What a nightmare that would be.

Why on Earth would anyone accept this behavior for the President of the United States?
