Back a few weeks ago, right around Veterans Day, I thought it only appropriate that I did a little brushing up just a tiny bit on some of the Military History and the many, many ordinary Men and Women, who in time of great tribulation and sacrifice, would perform so many EXTAORDINARY Heroic, Selfless and courageous acts.so I started to poke around and read a little and I came upon an article about the 10 most humanly devastating battles of the Civil War, the article was good, but what really blew me away was a comment written in the post article comment section. I feel it's worth sharing, I get the vibe that again, the author is an ordinary person, at times driven to extraordinary thoughts and actions!.............Peace........joe

I noticed in another article where Brices Crossroads is called Parkers Crossroads. Living just down the road from there I’ve never known it by that name. Not being a scholar of this subject but fairly knowledgable I would be greatly appreciative if someone would enlighten me. Haveing grown up on the hallowed fields of battle in North Mississippi, where the better Angels of our nature wound not prevail, inspired me as a Marine in my later life when in the face of overwhelming odds I remembered the bravery of my forefathers both north and south, charging into the face of cannons and certain death to die for a cause, for whatever reason that cause personally may have been, to shore up my own internal doubt of can I do this and not faulter! Their bravery is beyond description of words and deserves to be remembered written on the stones of history for all posterity to honor! We are a nation once again divided but it is my hope and prayer that history will serve its purpose of,”least we should forget,” to bring us back together under one God, one flag, and one purpose as a nation to live in peace and tolerance toward our neighbors and one another! This Great War with its hundreds of thousands of dead stand in silent testimony to the horror of what war can do to a nation divided. It must be studied and understood to that end! In Mississippi we do not fly the battle flag to provoke or cause division but for rememberance and to honor these sacrificed we all pray to God were not in vain. God bless America, and God bless The United States Marine Corps!! SEMPER FIDELIS………

In South Carolina do they wear it on bikinis while getting jiggly at the beachside beer bash to cause division, or out of a sober and dignified respect for fallen heroes? As the Skoaldrool of the proud descendents of that lost golden empire dribbles down their battleflagged cleavage in sincere honor of the glorious past.

Wow sckeys, Your one line post was awesome! Honest, to the point, thought provoking and impact full. I have some deeper thinking to do now. Was I too gullible by buying into this Gentlemen's story? Man, i kinda brushed over that last part, even after repeatedly reading it! Personally I don't think it possible to fly that battle flag without provoking and causing division, couple things now that I have to sort out in my own head, definately like to get some thoughts from others here..........Peace......joe

I like bikinis no matter what’s on em. I even look past the pink rebel flag T-shirt’s all the ladies used to wear with G.R.I.T.S (girls raised in the south) on the front.

True man, although a swastika bikini might be a turnoff. But bikinis do tend to bring people together.

Don't ask if sentiment is right or wrong, you were picking up on the vibe in the guy's rap sincere and moving. I get it.

I drive by a big Confederate battle flag here in Oregon every day on someone's front door - the vibe I get is confrontational display, not a gesture of respect for the fallen. The only 'hallowed ground of the slain' out this way is Indian Country. And the flag of the Union is still allowed.

I used to just think of it as an innocent symbol in my young un years and had it everywhere. In the 90s after after I got older and understood, I think, the history and how it could be hateful I seen my ignorance. I completely fail at understanding how that flag could be seen as a tribute to anybody or anything decent and moral. I’ve certainly no intention of disrespect to the OPs service.

Same here man. Didn't think much of it - kind of thought all flags were neat, still do, for the stories in them. Then you go, ok, this stuff never goes away, people died over this, these symbols have power, so you gotta think twice about flying that Nazi flag from your tricycle little Johnny.

I was in a “gang” once and our leader called it KGB. Maybe there was a legit reason for the squares (parents) to complain about teens smokin erb and listening to Metal.

And don’t eat that yellow snow

The Gang life didn’t last and I don’t know where that memory got drawn from. I’ve been laughing and tx’n a member to remind him. Blood in/blood out. We claimed our terrority (a laundromat) by writing on the walls but the owner wasn’t so quick to be shaken down. After our parents paid to have the joint painted the KGB spent some weekends working at our terrority for free.
