I think it interrupts the Rastros momentum and gives the Yankees more time to regroup, rest their pitchers. Otherwise Weds would have been a bullpen game for the Yankees, now they have Tanaka rested.

Well, never mind that. Yankees look done for. Cold bats, sieve pitching, at home no less. They actually made it closer in 2017 going up 3-2. I'm not saying it's totally over, but they need to turn the ship around fast, win 3 in a row, 2 on the road. They looked unstoppable all season and in the Divisional round, crushing runs in spite of all of their injuries. Maybe Houston just has their number.

The errors did in NY last night - if they can scratch out a win tonite against Verlander & force the series back to Houston....
Between the errors & weather, the stadium was mostly empty by the end of the game

Yanks got their hits in early and their pitching held. They are good enough to take 2 on the road, they just have to get it going again. Bull pen game tonight, get your popcorn ready.

I said it last series. The Stro's decision to start Justun V on short rest was not a good one.

I still think no onr can beat Cole however

Have to respectfully disagree with this thought. Houston has probably the best starting rotation in the game. Yanks reply on their bullpen. A lot. I think they would be taxed in the last three games. Now two of course. I think that is a lot to ask of their pen when the Yanks are lucky to get five innings out of their starters.

But who knows, maybe the Yanks can get their bats moving in Houston. Looking forward to the hopefully next two games.

I was speaking to their games in NY that were delayed, so the Yankees could stay alive. Yankees have been using their pen more with German, their top starter during the season, unavailable. And they are down Betances, one of their top relievers. The weather gave them an extra day of rest at home with both Tanaka and Paxton throwing deep into games 4 and 5, rather than having a bull pen game against Verlander or Greinke.

And they won to stay alive. Now the Yankees' bull pen with face off against the Rastro's bull pen. Seems like that favors the Yankees. Maybe not in a Game 7, but without that extra day off I think the Yankees would have been stretched even thinner in games 4 and 5 and they'd already be done.

they’ve been w/out Betances this season, German’s absence is big tho
Why didn’t they have a travel day, so that the athletes could’ve had time to prepare & be at their sharpest - instead of showing up run-ragged from last nights game w/hardly any rest/sleep in the interim - that too would’ve benefited both pitching staffs - don’t know whose bullpen is stronger, we’ll see shortly tho

NY did really good this year winning 103 games despite all the injuries, beating a good MN team in the playoffs & fighting to the end w/that huge 9th-inning game-tying HR

Some of the fun is taken out of the Cole/Verlander vs. Scherzer/Stephen matchups, knowing they’ll only go 5-6 innings in favor of a bullpen game (also the lower-tier Anibal- or Corbin-Greinke)
Too close to call, great World Series matchup indeed - starts Tues

Yanks were a long shot once they went down 3-1, but they made it interesting last night. Houston just has too many hitters who are hot right now.

The Nats are hard to gauge, but I think Houston will outlast them.

Because of that rain out. It is indeed a shame they didn't get a travel day but both teams had to do it so I'm not sure how much it mattered.

WOW - didn’t know this
“Gerrit Cole is on one of the most amazing runs in history
“He’s gone 19-0 with a 1.59 ERA, 258 Ks in his last 169.1 IP over his last 25 starts - Houstros have won each of his last 16 starts”

The Big Train himself, all-time Senator Walter Johnson, would be impressed - had no idea he was goin like that

For a brief time, all the bickering factions in the nation’s capital will be able to put aside their differences
Republicans & Democrats, liberals & conservatives & all others down there are now united in rooting for the Nationals - 2 games to go, & a WS win in Wash DC this wknd would be just the tonic for what ails em down there
Over it isn’t, but ‘stros haven’t been in same league so far - surprising

Well, most of those politicians aren't from DC, but point taken. I guess I should start giving them their due. They tore through the NL's best, and are now doing the same to the AL's best. Pretty impressive, especially without Bryce Dallas Harper. I guess that's why they play the games.

No doubt (re ‘that’s why they play the games’)
Wash hitters found their stride in Houston (mostly against bullpen)
Against Nats’ lower-tier Ps, ‘stros could do the same in Washington DC

Either way, a welcome respite as the hot local 9 supplants the business-as-usual ‘as the grand national game takes center stage in the nation’s capital’ - what’s more American than that

“& all the pretzels, hot dogs & beer....” - yep find myself rooting for the national team - good espn read by a long-suffering Sens/Nats fan w/frequent mention of the Big Train

Greinke is 18-5, Anibal is 11-8 but has been hot lately - going w/him enables Wash to go w/Corbin tmrw & avoid a “bullpen game”

That rumbling is the Big Train, Big Six, Cy Young himself (511 career wins)
Rolling in their graves - bullpen game

Houston won in 2017, would like to see Wash take it this time - Astros can blast off w/the bats at any time, a fun matchup for the fall classic

Always thought that lyric was a baseball song, when it’s actually Roll out those lazy crazy hazy days of sum-mer

I don't know for sure where that lyric originated but when I was a kid growing up outside of Detroit in the 70s it was a jingle on a Chevrolet TV commercial. "We love baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet". Me and my friends would sing it.

Scherzer maxed out, & the ripple effect affected the team - going back to Houston down 3-2 after a bitterly disappointing wknd for Nats fans in Wash DC
If Sens rebounded it’d be the first WS where no one won at home

Not so fast, not so fast - he got patched up & suddenly, after watching Stephen pitch like that....
It’s the return of Mad Max & could he have a Curt Schilling type moment while punching out ‘stros for all the mar-blos

.......2 outs from putting an ! Point on his best-ever season w/his top performance Of the season & just his third-ever CG, & w/a 5-run lead in his last game of the season, a WS game

........you’d think he’d let nothing/no one come between him & those last 2 outs
but that’s not how Stephen rolls - he pitched great & is playoff MVP if Wash wins -

Story said TV ratings are low - no wonder, stands have been quiet every game

When the Nationals came from behind to beat my Brewers in the Wild Card game, I never thought they'd go all the way. Pretty impressive post-season run, their bats got hot. Nice streak for DC after the Capitals just won the cup last year.

Gotta hurt Expos fans a little. Maybe they'll be happy when they get the Rays since no one in Tampa seems to care.

Not many did in Montreal either, that’s why they moved to Wash DC in 2004
Like TB, Expos often had good teams - similar in lack of attendance too tho
& in turn, why Sens twice left Wash, for MN in 1960 & Texas in 1971

Mayb Mont is ready for MLB again too, who knows - the cold early/late season weather, plus the Long road trips, aren’t selling points tho

Congrats to Nats, what a team - now all, politicians included, are on the same page - Nats fans, celebrating at their parade
After that, controversy - will the national team shun or embrace the invitation to the nearby White House
Let’s go Sox, wait til next year

No controversy - parade tmrw, 2018 champion Caps honor them Sunday, WH visit Monday - good to see the ‘national team/local 9’ leaving politics out of it
Surprised it drew the 3rd lowest TV ratings ever, there was a lot to like about this WS
Wait til next year
