Perhaps a bit overstated; but one of the great hitters of his generation. And the only HOF batter I've ever seen who "owned" a HOF pitcher (the Goose) to the point where he could call him his b**ch.

Perhaps? Of course it is overstated. He is just my favorite player ever. The first time I saw him was at Tiger Stadium when I was seven or eight. Been a huge fan ever since.

And you're right; Brett owned Gossage for whatever reason. I hated the Yankees when I was a kid so it was great to see. And in the '84 World Series Kirk Gibson hit a monster home run off The Goose in game five of the World Series so that was nice too!

Jesus, no Altuve & they're going off like astronauts packing Colt 45s -- mid May & their div is all but sewed up
We'll bring em back to earth this wknd -- we have to, **** is already starting to get away from us -- everywhere we turn, whether on the sheet or diamond, it's TB top of the heap -- & their fans stay away in droves too
but gotta catch NY 1st, let's go Sox

Houston is stacked. Detroit was so stupid to let Verlander get away. He just keeps getting better with age (it must be his smoking hot wife ).

Boston is turning things around and you're right about Tampa's fans. I was at a game there last year and the "fans" are iffy at best. The A.L. East should be fun. Yanks are hanging in even given all their injuries.

Yep Houston is good for sure -- thankfully they don't have Don Nottebart tho -- his name came up a day or 2 ago -- threw his 1962 no-hitter around this time for the brand-new Colt 45s

Cubbies are off to a solid start -- Tygiz not so much, but it's good to see Miguel Cabrera back & hitting well -- he & Victor Martinez are amazing, wish more players had their hard-nosed attitude

yeah it's early, but these next 2 w/Astros would be important to get, so let's go Sox -- JBJ & Steve Pearce will heat up

The Braves have the worst bullpen in the majors. Blown 9 games in 22 saves chances.

The other night they blew a big lead in the 9th inning. Venters struck out the first two with ease, then went blind and couldn't find the plate, much less the strike zone.

Sure was, great career w/Cubs, hit .299 w/16 HR & 118 RBI his first year with Sox in '85,
18 HR, over 100 RBI in 86, when we won the pennant -- BA dipped a little that year, to .267
RIP Bill Buckner

I was very impressed with the Sox fans in 2008 I think it was. Their fans can be tough but they gave him a standing O. Very classy. I think he had been back there once before that and they were nice to him.

I believe he had to move away because of all the crap he and his family took. I think that is silly. You made an error; not the end of the world.

Nope -- wrong div
what is it w/the Oakland A's -- they're awesome, upper echelon almost year in & year out & always w/among the smallest payrolls in MLB -- they've won 10 straight & have unsewed Houston's lead

But no, it's not that division, it's the Central -- & the Twins who, just a year after the retirement of all time player Joe Mauer, are atop the heap, both leagues, under 1st year manager Rocco Baldelli, the youngest skipper in the majors -- they do indeed have it all but sewed up -- as of right now

We're In NY This Wknd
we enjoy the adulation, everywhere we go, of 2018 -- but we gotta get down to business pretty soon -- we're fine, but NY will only get better -- Houston 2 times took 2 of 3 from us recently -- we have to reverse that this weekend in the Big Bronx of NY, so let's go Sox

feelin for what Dustin Pedrioia is going thru -- with good play still in him, his knee has failed this great player
Brock Holt will soon be back from one of his countless injuries -- when uninjured, he's a key player

It shows how misleading stats can be -- look at Wash, the Scherzer/Stephen tandem, to the Max (1-2) in the NL in strikeouts, & a third, Patrick Corbin, fourth -- but the Harper-less Nats are napping

or KC -- w/their speed alone you'd think......Mondesi/Merrifield 1-2 in triples, Dozier also right there -- Raul Mondesi Jr. tops in SB, & Royales also now have former Cincy speedster Billy Hamilton burning AL basepaths .... but Royales .... good run that's it, I guess

It Was Good Pitch Good Hit Until 9th-Inning Barfup Last Night -- not good to let that one get away, a CG from David would've gotten it done, he was good -- urgency has to start now, everything points to NY pulling away, especially when we cough up games -- we don't have the Cole/Verlander (1-2 in Ks overall) 1-2 punch Houston has

but we do have, on paper, a rotation that should be able do again this year what it did last year -- Chris, David & Eduardo along with Rick is solid -- we go Now, Sox

ChiSox didn't release name of that blonde hitting photog w/the 1st pitch last night -- photog might well have gotten a little bit mo' than 1B outta that HBP, it looked like to me

A ball to the nutbag is about as foul as it gets -- feel for Haniger of Mariners ("ruptured testicle") -- that's gotta be awful

Not a David Ortiz fan at all but I sure hope he is going to be okay. I think it'll be interesting when the dust settles if that guy that shot him singled him out for whatever reason. And good for the crowd that subdued the guy that did it. Bastard.

TheDR seems like it has become a very dangerous place. Lots of tourist incidents. As they used to say on Hill Street blues : "Be careful out there"

Saw him destroy the Jays dreams in 1985.

Never knew until last year that he was a hockey fan, he owns the WHL Hockey Spokane Chiefs Owner and owns 3-4 minor league ball clubs in the west as well.

Like to meet him one day.

Whoa, it's not just Noah (88 K's)
Zack Wheeler and Jacob deGrom give the Mets top 5-caliber heat while fanning everyone in sight

but still in all, in this, the 50th year of their Miracle 1969 season, they're not making anyone forget Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman or rookie fireballer Nolan Ryan -- Mets are languishing

Tom has retired from public life to battle the dementia diagnosed 2-3 years ago -- if an occasion is held to honor the team, he should in abstentia get the loudest applause of all -- or maybe a visit, if able, would be beneficial

He played briefly for the Sox in '86 & pitched a perfect game w/Reds & was one of the terrifics of all time

Buckle down must begin now -- NYY's huge sluggers are ready to return w/their thunderous bats -- so let's go Sox

It's an Effin Bummer when they're pitching for Phils/ChiSox
Pitching they are tho, Effin tonite as Bryce Harper returns to Wash DC
& Bummer bullpen as ChiSox take over Wrigley Field for the Windy City World Series

It's not just NY
W/out Altuve, Correia and Springer, Astros still soaring like Astro & the Jetsons -- it's space age stuff, esp Correia's injury

spoke too soon before on Clay -- got in 24 IP this season w/Tor -- who knows if he'll be back -- it's the same as always, they're saying shoulder w/out offering specifics/notimetable on return yadada
After 10 weeks, Clevinger of Cleveland has returned from his teres major injury -- Tony Cloninger he's not

3 divisions are wrapped up (Hou down to 8.5 games) -- 1 of those is MN, & to get 7 straight, we gotta have 7 strong tonight from David -- matching what Rick did last night -- let's go Sox

They've had great careers -- Dustin Pedroia & King Felix -- Felix' most recent Triple A start was not good
but credit to them -- fabulously wealthy, it's the pure athlete in them at this late stage of their careers that wants to go out of the game & teams they love on their terms -- same w/Clay Buchholz as well, less teams

Great name for an Omaha team, the Storm Chasers -- saw a good one recently (may have already been mentioned)
the Scottsdale Jr. College Fighting Artichokes
Dirtbags still my fave, Yard Goats close 2nd

No offense but how can you say three divisions are wrapped up in June? A.L & N.L West. Kind of looks that way. That's two. If you are including the A.L. Central: perhaps. Not sure I trust the Twins to go that far but maybe.

Again, it's still June.
