So you think there is a ammo shortage? Don't believe it. There is no shortage. President Obama is not buying it all up so he take over the country without a fight.

I ran into a friend of mine who works in the sporting goods dept. at Walmat. His son works nearby at a large sporting goods center. He said they put ammo out every night and it is all gone within twenty minutes. He said numerous people hang out around his counter and as soon as the ammo comes out they buy three boxes (per person limit) and even more with individual family members. They also get on their cell phones and call family members and friends who rush down before it is put away and wipe it out like a bunch of locusts. They curse each other out as the grabbing gets serious.

His son says his store opens every day at 9 a.m. and by 8a.m. there is a line of up to 100 people just waiting to fly up the stairs to the gun dept. to devour the morning ammo supply. They push and shove and act like freakin animals at a carcass kill. He even has to throw some of them out of the store.

These "well regulated militia" members (LMAO) hoard some of the ammo and resell the rest to gun club members and online ammo auction sites for a nice profit.

They drive up the prices on fellow "militia" members and conduct themselves like aholes. It is not a few bad apples either. It is thousands of these idiots all over the country. They have 10,000 rounds under their beds as if that will help them when the govt. sends a team of Rangers to their homes to get their guns. They will be dead in five minutes, probably less.

I checked out a few on-line ammo sites and there is plenty of ammo for sale. Not that I want any of this garbage.

This unregulated miltia is just another valid reason why all guns including family heirlooms and those used for target shooting should be confiscated and destroyed. NO GUNS = NO GUN DEATHS.

There is no "well regulated militia" and the second ammendment is antiquated and should be abolished. Owning slaves used to be legal too. Time for a change!

It won't happen right away but the day is coming.......hopefully sooner than later.

Remember Newtown!

Your distaste for guns has been noted before, and you're entitled to your opinion, but, unless you are willing to give up quite a few of the rights given in the Constitution, there will always be firearms present.
First, abolish the First Amendment so that the populace could not decry the loss of their Constitutional Rights.
Second, abolish the Second Amendment and outlaw any ownership of firearms for any reason, by everyone. Yes, this would include police and the military since if it didn't, there would still be gun deaths.
Third, abolish the Fifth Amendment so that citizens would be held accountable for not incriminating themselves as owners of firearms.
Fourth, abolish the Fourth Amendment that keeps people secure from illegal searches and seizures.
Of course you'll probably have to get rid of the Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments as the trials start for those who didn't want to give up the rights as described in the Constitution since you'll probably will not want to give speedy, public, trials: would want to impose extremely punishing (read unpayable) bail:
and you want to take away the rights dictated to the people and states (9 and 10).
Might as well just get rid of the Fourth also and just post police and loyal soldiers in homes and buildings to insure that nobody has a firearm.

Of course, one group of people will still have access to firearms, other than those who had taken away the rights of others that feel they need protection from the "unwashed hordes". That will be the "criminals", you know those people that don't care about following the law.

Regardless of how one feels about guns, the ammo situation is just market forces at work. It would be no different if it were TVs, beer, or rubber bands. If there is at least a perceived demand, prices will go up for the respective commodity.

Glad I have plenty of rubber bands... can always make zip-guns!

Its useless to debate someone on the rights issues who so blithely wishes to give up what they are so astonishing careless about.

That said, the ammo shortage is very real. Most rounds are 2-3x the cost they were just a year ago. Many options that used to exist are either not listed, or marked "sold" out". Where there used to be dozens of choices for the major calibers at the online retailers, there now are maybe 10-15, often less.

That would not be the case were it not for scarcity. You don't think the manufacturers and stores want to sell as much as they can? Where they used to sell by the case (typically 500 or 1,000 rounds), they now often limit to 2-3 boxes.

Of course, any anti-gun dimwit such as we have here would think 2-3 boxes would be plenty. They would have no idea that a box of 9mm can be gone through in about 10 minutes at the range by someone working on keeping their skills up.

They would probably also have paid no attention to the unprecedented orders placed by gov't departments for multi-millions of rounds. Why do Social Security and NOAA need mountains of ammo? Who knows, but they have placed orders for it. Perhaps that tells us something about what our gov't expects to happen in the future.

Since I doubt the originator of this thread has any history of ammo purchases, comments about "no shortage" are about as baseless as the rest of his blather. Please post some proof from viable sources that corroborates the "no shortage" claim so that the comments can be taken seriously. Your 'friends" at WalMart used to do exactly what I mentioned above - sell by the case without limit - and never had the daily rush they now experience. That alone proves the shortage.

Perhaps when Obama leaves office and FOX stops telling their listeners that he's coming for their guns things will settle down a bit. I'm still waiting for the government to show up and ask for mine.....so far not a single gun confiscater in sight.

Methinks that ammo makers have studied the petroleum business quite well and have seen the profits soar as they clamp down to restrict availability in the marketplace. There is no shortage of ammo, just a shortage of ammo at previous prices. It's like gas. We're all out of the 1$ a gallon variety, but have plenty of the 4$ a gallon stuff. It's funny to see some blame the very same free market they say they support for the price rise. Besides, if I were part of the well regulated militia, I'd be buying drones instead.

Gun violence is way up this year and will continue to grow. We are back to the wild, wild west where everyone has a gun and any kind of confrontation however small can end up with someone on the wrong end of a gun. And how about all of the children so called accidentally being whacked with guns. Any kid who shoots another kid either with their parent's gun or a gun given to them by their parents, their parents should be thrown in jail for life. If a gun is stolen from someone and used in a murder than the person who had the gun stolen from them should face some kind of criminal prosecutuon just as the one who did the murdering should face murder charges. If you want to and feel the need to own a gun then properly store the gun or guns and take FULL responsibility for them. That is my opinion.

4663 gun deaths so far since Newton happened??? That is friggin crazy. Very sad indeed. We have become a country where children have to worry if they are gonna get blown away during school. Welcome to the wild, wild west. Our new country slogan should be America, home of the guns instead of America, home of the brave.

Very scientific study they got going there. Twitter, really......

Mean while, back at the Ranch....

According to the DOJ, gun violence is down and semi-automatics are minor issues.

You are right on the money. It is sickening what this country has turned into. When I was a kid I remember someone being sent home because they brought their father's hunting knife in to show off. It was a real big deal and it never happened again.

The thought of someone having a gun never crossed our minds nevermind that we could ever be shot. Those innocent days are gone but we can get them back.

People in this country should not have guns for any reason. Too bad if they don't like it. Ask kids if they like the idea of being shot.

Makes perfect sense to me. Then we can confiscate all guns and not have to worry about this madness anymore.

How about you pick a fight that would really matter.....

In the USA, about 438,000 people die from smoking-related illnesses per year. Overall, cigarette smoking accounts for about 30% of cancer deaths. Of every 5 deaths in the USA, 1 is caused from smoking.

so as of now 5,000 gun deaths and 200,000 tobacco deaths now what is really important? now lets break out the alcohol stats!

And I'm sure that will stop all the "madness". Timothy McVeigh didn't need a gun.

As for confiscating mine and those of others I know who are responsible, law abiding citizens, good luck.

I don't think you realize just how stupid your response is to that post.
To do as you want the government to do, confiscate all guns, you would have to destroy the entire Bill Of Rights. Then again, since you feel that you don't need protection under the Bill of Rights, will you give up your right to not incriminate yourself, to a speedy trial with a jury of your peers, will you give the police free access to your home-car-computer-mail-conversations so they can prosecute you for imagined crimes?

Think about it. Just how would you confiscate all the guns in the US? Be honest, or shut up.

Be honest, or shut
up.

How about I don't shut up just to annoy you and I will even repeat what I posted. Telling people to shut up ain't happening. You make me want to talk even more. Thanks!!!

Here is a repeat of what I wrote...just for you! Enjoy!!

I don't think people like you realize that what you said is nonsense. This domino effect is fear mongering crap at it's best. Some how, in some way our gov't eventually will ban gun ownership of any type and it will be a great day for this country. Please spare me the garbage of how only criminals will have them. Not true and even more fear mongering.

And you still haven't been honest about how you would go about confiscating all the guns in the US.
Give us your pearls of fantasy wisdom, show us how you would do this without destroying the Constitution, then you might have an audience willing to listen.

Here's the deal. You spout the same lines that someone who is a constant writer to the local paper, almost word for word. You two must be reading from the same playbook that your masters have sent you.

Basically, you are nothing but a sock puppet for someone who should be facing charges of conspiracy to deny civil rights.

Just keep on keeping on.
