Yeah, yeah I know some mega bank owns it now, but it's still GSAC to me!

Psyched for tonight. Anyone know what time the Brothers are kicking things off?

sully - are you sure about 6:30 start? I called the arts center and on the recording they said allmans 7-9; Santana 9:30 - 11:30. I actually trust people here more than the recording, but was curious if you had some inside scoop or were basing it on the recent hard starts. thanks!

thanks sully. the recording was also weird in the sense that i thought there was an 11pm curfew, but it has been a few summers since i've been to the arts center so i guess it could have changed.

The tickets for Jones Beach said 7:00pm and Santana hit the stage at exactly that time so whatever start time is on your ticket is the time I would be at my seat.

Boy these setlists are getting stale...not trying to "Debbie Downer", but how 'bout some realistic cuts. Wasted Words, Please Call Home, Stand Back, Les Brers, High Cost, Desdemona, Old Before my Time, Stormy Monday, Every Hungry Woman...even during the Panic co-bill they busted out some suprising and delightful covers: Manic Depression, Can't find my Way Home and Only you Know and I Know. I only gripe b/c I'm going to Raleigh and am worried it may be my last show due to new career path and the "Real World" calling. I'm sure it was a great, well performed set. Still gonna have a ball...even though I know there will be a Van Morrison cover in there somewhere.

These first few setlists of the tour have been somewhat similar. I was just thinking the same thing.

We're only four shows into the tour, and several songs have been already been played 2-3 times.

Hard to complain too much when the songs in question are Jessica, Whipping Post, One Way Out, etc. Still, less setlist variety on this tour so far than we've come to expect since Warren returned in 2001.

The summer tours usually are less varied than the Beacon run and the like. Sets tend to be shorter which is part of it.

Just come home from GASC = PNC. Allmans were much stronger than the one show I saw at the Beacon. Santana's set started strong but when Derek and Warren joined him on stage...WOW. Even got my Quinones sit-in. I am exhausted... will let others fill in the details. Rob, you would have been several feet off the ground at a minimum.

The setlists are stale. How about throwing in rivers gonna rise, maydell, firing line, little martha>Blue sky>little martha. Derek and warren must get bored playing these same songs over and over. Comfort kills creativity.

I know absnj isn't one to throw praise around lightly, so I'll assume this show was righteous

I am about as big a Santana fan as I am an ABB fan, so I'm thrilled that Carlos and Co. are bringing their A game on this tour. Sounds like they are making some new fans among the ABB crowd.

Extra glad to hear that Warren got to sit in with Santana. I had a feeling Derek would, just because of the tour he did with Santana, but it's great that Warren (and Marc) get to join in the fun.

When they are cooking, there is no musical force more powerful than Santana.

Warren and Derek playing with Santana was definitely a show highlight. Did anyone else think that Carlos' guitar was much louder than all the other instruments and voices? Maybe it's where we were sitting, but his playing drowned out the rest of the band.

Derek and Warren sat in for a medley tribute to Santana's favorite Johns: John Lee Hooker and John Coltrane. Hooker stuff was your basic boogie, not sure if it was Super Boogie as Santana has done in the past.

I do not know Coltrane's catalog well enough to tell you what tunes they played, may have included Naima, but I am not sure. All I know is I am rarely speechless, but this was one of those times. It also made a very eloquent statement for me as the why I do not care for the TTB. This was not music for the masses.

But there was something for everyone with lots of typical Santana power playing on both old and new material, including the usual Naria Maria, Foo Foo, Corazon Espinado, Jingo, Soul Sacrifice, Oye Como Va, No One to Depend On, BMW-Grypsy Queen. He opened with some instrumental material from Shapeshfter.

The ABB set included In A Silent Way at the tail end of one of the songs.

My .02......I'm really not concerned with the setlist, as I'll only see one show at most.
It's the quality that's foremost for me. I want them to stick with what they do well.
Gregg's situation is what concerns me. I wish him the absolute best.
But I love this band. Duane Allman's band. The bar is set at the highest level, and should never be lowered. Just my opinion. I don't want to hear something that's not up to the level the band has set. Again, just my opinion. I'm reading reviews, still deciding whether to go over to Chastain Park.

If there's only a couple dozen songs that Gregg and the band have down solid these days, I would prefer they stick to that. Whatever they do, do it at the highest level.
Don't sacrifice quality for setlist diversity. Just an opinion.

Go, I don't think you will be disappointed. If you see the band often, that's one thing, but if you only get to shows once in a while, you should not pass up the opportunity. It was day and night compared to the one Beacon show I attended.
