Happy Birthday, Torey Krug - Zdeno said it best some time back, “TK is our unsung hero - every night!”
Won’t see TK47 & the black & gold back out there until fall - watta team

Am feeling distant reverberations - yep one of those vaguely familiar shockwaves that even a half century is no match for

4 days after winning the Cup on 4’s high-flying goal 40 seconds into 4th-period OT for a 4 game sweep
....3 days after the parade that by itself was something to see

...elation turned to WTF-level disbelief when on May 14, 1970, Harry Sinden announced he was resigning to go into private business

It took a lotta the gas outta the Cup win, Harry was almost as popular as the players were -
fans, “Stirling Homex builders?? - this is HORSESHIT!!!, who’s not talkin’” etc etc....

it was completely outta the blue both to team & fans - the jubilation leveled off quickly - actually many fans were more curious, perplexed, bewildered - than upset about it - it couldn’t completely compromise the win & parade

Happy belated birthday BRAD MARCHAND, the league’s top winger - all he & his teammates want is the assurance that they’ll have another shot at it in 2020-21 beginning w/Sept training camp as usual

Hodgie
Happy Birthday Ken Hodge, 76
Those teams were popular w/many faves but Hodgie was mine - hands down!
He was almost always 3rd in scoring but got little of Espo’s or Orr’s acclaim
Didn’t seem right so began rooting for em
A great player - always w/more assists than goals - & if he was mad at you, look out - Ken was a big boy & like most on those teams, Never did he back down from fisticuffs

Made his high of 105 points in 1970-71, duplicated it 3 yrs later
Kenny Hodge is one of our greats, everyone knows that

1970-71, OMG
The top 4 scorers - and Seven Of The Top 11 Overall - were Bruins - Kenny was 4th that year

Espo: “It was great playing w/Orr & all the guys
“But my linemates (points at them) - Cashman & Hodgie - (shakes his head) - what can I say?”

Yep Phil was all but speechless talking about Cashman, & Phil’s longtime (Chicago>Boston>NY) teammate KEN HODGE the night they retired Phil’s # Dec. 1987 at the Gahdn

Though sad to see him go, our trade w/Ken worked out - he was getting near the end unfortunately, but Rick Middleton, who we got in return, proved as valuable as Ken had been

Hodgie was The Perfect winger to play w/Phil
So was Wayne, & happy belated birthday to Cash, who turned 75 ystrday

RIP, Eddie Kasko
