IMO, NBC and Costas should not have given him the time of day. Of course, it was all for the ratings. Why does Costas have to go on about the rhythmic slap slap slap slapping?

This motherfcker Sandusky is the classic pedophile. Narcissistic pedophiles claim to be infallible, superior, talented, omnipotent, etc. They lie to support unfounded claims and to justify their actions. Most pedophiles suffer from cognitive deficits and reinterpret reality to fit their fantasies, which is exactly what this dirt bag is doing.

Pedophiles believe that they simply love the child. No amount of denials, threats and even outright hostile actions convince these maniacs that the child is not in love with him. They interpret everything the child does (or refrains from doing) as coded messages confessing to and conveying the child's interest in and eternal devotion to the pedophile.

Itís fcking sick, and NBC and Costas are sick for even giving him the time of day.

I couldn't disagree more.

This is a crime that operates in the utmost shadows of secrecy.

Shine all the light possible on it. Bring it forth. Some of most cherished and beloved institutions in our society seem to be involved in these horrible cover-ups. Open it up. Put them on display.

Yeah, I agree, it's sick. Sometimes no one will do anything about a wrongdoing until they are forced to be made uncomfortable about it.

"Let's not give it the time of day" is exactly what enables this inhumane behavior.

I would think he is severely mentally ill, and very delusional in terms of concepts of the real world. Maybe a superiority complex. Operates on a hidden personal set of rules that he knows are contrary to societies laws, but feels he (and he gets reinforcement, especially on the net underground no doubt) but he feels his rules are correct and societies flawed. He probably feels his for of "love" to children is actually a show of kindness to them.

I believe people like him "believe" their thoughts to be correct somehow. This is my unprofessional take on what I have read and such on serial child molestors. So for him to come on with an "I'm inncocent" interview actually fits with his concoluted belief system, and to himself, he is really not lying.

not excusing the guy. the above is the only explanation for him recently shopping at a sporting goods store (for what??? he is playing sports now?) with a Penn St sweatshirt on!

stay tuned, this story is unraveling daily. check McQueriy's recent contradiction of words. Now he says he stopped the rape after all. "Superhero" yeah! then in next interview he says he feels "shaken, like a snowglobe".

so he is a snow globe carrying, rape preventing, but in touch with his sensitive side and shaken, Superhero! yeah!

Have to agree 100%. Giving him an interview was like giving him rope to hang himself. He is just that much more discredited now. Let the doubters (if any remain) see the truth.

The small non-cynical part of me still hopes that the higher ups at the university did not act in a concerted manner to cover up, but all did the minimal needed "wishing it away" since this was a long time friend. Not that it would make it right; but a planned cover up would be infinitely more despicable.

I didn't say don't give IT the time of day. I don't think we should give HIM the time of day. We can shed light on the topic without having that lying dirt ball on. I actually agree with you. We need to bring this into the open, although I still don't think you need to have him being interviewed.

The interview reminded me a little bit of reading about when Ted Bundy started working with the cops to "help" find the Green River Killer. He wasn't "helping" anyone; he was trying to stay his execution a little longer. The only person he was trying to help was himself. Sandusky, like Bundy, showed the tendency to lie and turn the conversation around to suit himself. I don't get what Costas hoped to gain from it. Its almost like he was trying to outwit Sandusky, and because Sandusky is the typical lying ledophile, Costas lost.

In trying to help himself, Sandusky did just the opposite.

Costas thought he was going to interview the attorney. The attorney got on the phone and asked Costas if he wanted to interview Sandusky, which gave Costas 15 minutes to prepare for it.

And, actually, I thought Costas did a brilliant job. I wish there were journalists that would hammer our politicians with the same stubbornness as Costas did. He basically got an implied confession out of the guy.

Here...

Costas: But isn't what you're just describing the classic MO of many pedophiles? And that is that they gain the trust of young people, they don't necessarily abuse every young person. There were hundreds, if not thousands of young boys you came into contact with, but there are allegations that at least eight of them were victimized. Many people believe there are more to come. So it's entirely possible that you could've helped young boy A in some way that was not objectionable while horribly taking advantage of young boy B, C, D, and E. Isn't that possible?

If you haven't heard the audio of this answer, you need to...

Sandusky: Well -- you might think that. I don't know. (LAUGHS) In terms of -- my relationship with so many, many young people. I would-- I would guess that there are many young people who would come forward. Many more young people who would come forward and say that my methods and-- and what I had done for them made a very positive impact on their life. And I didn't go around seeking out every young person for sexual needs that I've helped. There are many that I didn't have-- I hardly had any contact with who I have helped in many, many ways.

Game.

Set.

Match.

Guilty.

I heard the audio and he is soooo creepy, but I am not sure that quote necessarily convicts him either. I believe he is guilty, but the defense could argue that he is a football coach and in teaching has physical contact with those he coaches. However, when I head that the other day, its clear to me he had to stop himself from saying "there are many I didn't have sex with", or something along those lines.

Again, I am all for bringing this horrible crime into the spotlight, I just hate giving any attention to the perpetrators, because its exactly what they want. Let them get the attention in court. They can speak there.

Jerry probably thinks that he is untouchable in Happy Valley. Look at the favorable bail terms the judge granted- not one penny out of pocket, no electronic monitoring. Free to go anywhere, anytime. The judge did have ties to Sanduskys charity which raised campaign dollars for her. THis could be payback in the Happy Valley power club. If he goes before this judge for trial, who knows?
