I was wonderin' when you were gonna chime in, Clay.

The song is from the movie Black Rain. Maybe that'll help. It's a good song. It's not one that you would think to hear from Gregg, but it's a good one.

Black Rain? Was that where Michael Douglas was investigating a counterfeiting ring in Japan, or something like that?

I've got the soundtrak CD to that flik--"Black Rain".....yes it's the one with Michael Douglas
Gregg sings the song "I'll be Holdin' On". I've never seen an accompanying performance video of the cut but it may exist. The 1989 soundtrak was put out on--get all this!--"Movie Music of Virgin Records.....by CBS Records & Paramount Pictures and distributed through an arrangement with Atlantic Records".....UNQUOTE!!! on the back of the CD!!! I don't know if you could still purchase it new by Spc./Ord. or not.....doubtful

The artists who also perform on the disc include....Iggy Pop, UB-40, Soul to Soul, Hans Zimmer, Sparks--remember them?(brothers and the keyboard one looked like Hitler, mustache)--and some Japanese folks I've never heard of before or since. The tracks were produced by Don Was and/or David Paich--think he's a Nashville name. The players are not listed per track but 'in bulk' include: Guitarist Waddy Wachtel, Sly Dunbar,Steve, Jeff & Mike Porcaro and Jim Horn...many others.

I've always wondered why this cut was never released on a Gregg solo "best of" package....not many have even heard the cut.....Got the CD many years ago for Christmas from my now 'ex' wife.....only thing nice she ever got me.(haha!) We had watched the movie and I swore that was Gregg singing the in-effect title cut.....she ordered the disc and there it was.....

Might add it says "I'll be Holdin' On" was written by Hans Zimmer and Will Jennings and "Gregg Allman appears courtesy of Epic Records"

Awesome, Clay! Love it! The guitar work reminds me a little of the obscure song Gregg wrote and sang with Brad Gillis, "Honest to God." Love that one too! Thanks, Clay!
