Thread: Mueller Testifies

nebish - 7/24/2019 at 04:40 PM

Anyone watching or listening?

My wife has had it on all morning, I'm in and out of the house.

I was struck by Mueller's seemingly lack of knowledge and depth on the issue he is testifying about. At one point I asked my wife "has Mueller read the Mueller report?". Then I thought age a hell of a thing, maybe we shouldn't be looking towards people in their mid 70s as leading POTUS candidates.

Anyway, I'm finding PAC 12 Media Days substantially more compelling.

MartinD28 - 7/24/2019 at 05:19 PM

I watched this A.M., and I too thought age may have caught up with him. I'm sorry to say that because he's a war veteran - someone who didn't dodge the draft like other unnamed cowards. He is also and always has been an impartial individual in the high level jobs he has performed.

The Q & A went as expected this A.M. The Dems spending tremendous time attempting to get Mueller to validate the points of lies and obstruction by Trump & subordinates, and the GOP trying to tarnish the long term GOP Special Counsel's conclusions and findings - all to support Trump.

I didn't get the sense of a lack of knowledge, only deference to the Report, or refusing to discuss internal conversations or comment on ongoing investigations.

But not much to see here. Anyone who expected anything new beyond grandstanding outrage on either side of the aisle was going to be disappointed.

nebish - 7/24/2019 at 05:31 PM

In Mueller's defense, it has been a while since he finished up his oversight and administration role of the report and investigation. These Congressmen and woman are very prepared and at this point are more familiar with the details of the report that Mueller himself his - or so it appeared to me. 5 minutes is tough, mostly because he has had to have the Congressmen repeat so many questions that it eats up the limited time there is. He seems to be doing better in this second round.

Herman Muellster looks like he hasn't slept in years.

You are so right. Yes - Bill Clinton. He is relevant because he was the topic of today's hearing, was chummy with Russians, and obstructed justice in the Trump investigation.

You seem to either usually be in Trump's corner or deflect, so here are two questions for you.

Do you, like Trump, believe in the Russian hoax?

Do you believe Trump should be indicted after he leaves office, or are you in favor of giving him a pass?

This from Mueller today -

https://www.vox.com/2019/7/24/20708535/robert-mueller-testimony-trump-indic t-office

"During Robert Mueller’s testimony in front of the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) asked Mueller if he could indict the president on obstruction charges.

The former special counsel’s answer was simple: “Yes.”

It was a rare striking moment in a hearing that has, so far, been largely unenlightening. Mueller’s position is that he didn’t consider indicting Trump solely because of the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) ruling saying sitting presidents can’t be indicted. But Trump won’t be president forever, and Mueller’s view is that once Trump is out of office, prosecutors could charge him with obstruction if they believe the facts laid out in the report warrant it.

dutchoneill - 7/24/2019 at 11:56 PM

Seemed pretty clear that he didn't write that report.

Didn't know about Fusion GPS?

Could you repeat the question.

Pretty sad.

Where do democrats go from here? The Mueller report is over and its the Mueller report in name only. I feel bad for Mueller for being put up there, until I think back to all the lives he ruined on this fishing expedition. President Trump and the Office of the President is stronger today than yesterday.

Seems like a few were making statements rather than asking questions. Mueller was probably thinking: "Yeah, go ahead and waste all the time you want to."

We all know that the perspective of the original statement was about Trump since it was Mueller's day to testify about Trump, but not unexpectedly you deflected and would not address Trump as a draft dodger because you would dare not criticize Trump and would not answer follow up questions directed to you about Trump.

Mueller was never going to read from the report so there'd never be film of him quoting it that could be used out of context.

Didn't watch after multiple previous hearings (Comey, Sessions, Kavanaugh, Cohen) - precisely because he was going to avoid anything that could be used by 24/7 media or in campaign ads from either side & it would be as you point out partisan grandstanding.

KCJimmy - 7/25/2019 at 02:52 PM

My take on it is that Mueller's performance was so bad that those on the far left are likely to say, "No wonder he couldn't find proof of any crimes. After 22 months of investigating we now know for certain why he didn't get the goods on Trump. He can't even remember where he parked his car."

And then they will want a do over. a new special counsel to get the job done right.

The one and only link will be the top one that asks "Was Bill Clinton a "felonious draft dodger"?
Click on that link and you will be on the page.
Please read the responses from Snopes where he kept changing draft classifications, did not show up after getting a 2 year navy berth, had his draft notice delayed until he was in England, used different deferrments, and various other favors.

I don't think re-visiting the racism angle is going to get a democrat elected. 50 million people voted for President Trump. Calling them all crazy racists is not a winning strategy, but I can see Democrats really tempted to double down on the racism angle and not working on getting immigration reform.

Fretsman - 7/26/2019 at 03:28 AM

Exactly, Vote!

What was once the world's shining light of Democracy has gone dark and turned into something else.
A once proud and honorable man was rolled out as the face of an investigation in hopes to justify it and give it a sense of truth and dignity. The ploy failed, there was no truth, no dignity, just an embarrassment of our political system. Mueller went out like a dog, a tool of the liberal lunatics.
He didn't write any part of "his" report. He put Weissman in charge of it all, from picking the all Dem/anti Trump team. This was never about truth, justice, and the American way. This is/was a complete farce.

They pushed it off a week for prepping purposes and the 1/2 wit Mueller has blossomed into even botched that up. He stayed to the script the Dem's laid out. Defense Attorneys in court would've objected to most questions as they were all leading. "This is what I want you to agree to Mr. Mueller, Is that correct", every time the Dem's phrased it Mueller graciously replied "That's correct", He was oblivious to what he was agreeing to, but if it came from the Dem's he knew what the script was supposed to read. When Congressman Leiu laid the softball lob questioning....
“I’d like to ask you the reason, again, that you did not indict Donald Trump is because of OLC [Office of Legal Counsel] opinion stating that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?” Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) asked Mueller.
Mueller’s response was straightforward, Democrat question.... “That is correct.”

Oooops, F'd that up again. Mr. Barr already got the factual answer when the "leak" came out from the Dem's camp that Mueller was unhappy with the report summary and Barr called him (on speaker phone w/witnesses) and Mueller verified "No", No charges and due to lack of a case, not because a sitting president.

Mr. Barr covered for his dear respected friend with a dual press release then, and Mueller had to be rolled out for the afternoon hearing to "Ooops", clarify that again.

The picture of Sheila Jackson Lee giving to separate pay envelopes to Blaisi Fords lawyers after the Kavanaugh hearings comes to mind (unopened stationary notes my ass). It's a sickening farce we're watching live, History will refect the truth, the idiots, and the villains. Where do you think names like Nadler, Schiff, Schumer, Al Green, and the Squat will fall historically speaking?

Mr. Mueller was once more than a puppet, he was a hero, he was once what was best about America and the proud who serve. That was then, this is now.
Also, I read the link about Clinton's efforts, it's all there, The False allegations about him being the first draft dodging felon to be president are in fact "False", but it lays out the truth about his efforts and shenanigans to a stay stateside. Sexual predator, non inhaler, arsenio hall saxophoning POS that he is.

That is what the liberal lunacy wants in office, the pop culture presidents, The Obama's and Clintons, has anyone recommended to Robert O'Rourke that he should take sax lessons instead of broadcasting dentists visits?
The racism claims are getting funny? Too much phony outrage and insincere apologies. The "Squat" are a testament of irony. I know the Democratic Party is a "big tent" party, but aren't the "big tent" outrages getting old. They use the women of color umbrella to declare even members of their own party racist and one is Nancy Pelosi? If I get a tan can I claim to be a person of color? Since when are Palestinian, Somali, and Puerto Rican women allowed to claim all this racial bias as if they were African American women put through slavery over a century ago?
The country has worked tirelessly to rectify every wrong created, We're all flawed human beings and should all work to make ourselves better everyday til we croak.

For Rashida Talib to claim to be a woman of color is as disingenuous as Elizabeth Warren is to be Native American.

No one in my family went to college until my children and a niece did, No government help, just a FAFSA statement with expected family contribution and blown out interests rates for me and my wife, We chose to mortgage our house to help them and I'm struggling now to pay and am working on a refi at the moment. All 4 of the Squat went thru college and made it the House Of Congress. Instead of praising our country and being thankful they just wander off into lunacy.

I have fought off posting on the site, I even went to 3 shows and put up nothing, that's the new norm, but I've had a few and indulged a little more and felt like jumping in. I'll probably regret it and need to do a mass edit of typos and lost and abandoned thoughts, I'm rambling here.

I pray intelligent voters who work, support families, and have an American sense of pride vote and try to keep the country safe and efficient. We can't afford the 1 million legal immigrants we take in to give them a better life. The projected 1+ million illegal immigrants are a problem. We will create victims to be preyed upon. Day after there's another story about an illegal immigrant committing violent crimes, but what do we get from our politicians? fake poses of tears at the border for what they deemed to be a manufactured crisis? The only thing we are manufacturing are American victims and photo ops, Everyones getting in on the Crying Chuck Schumer acting class scenes.... "That was mean spirited, sob, sob" WTF people?

There are an estimated 150 million homeless in the world, we can't take them all in, give them free everything. Oh the immorality of being charitable and sensible, Oh Dear? Better get them in before airplanes are banned?

Best way to create a hypochondriac is to promise free healthcare, best way to create crime is to bring in massive amounts of people who can't afford the cost of being here and become desparate and do what needs to be done to survive. We paid into social security as a means of forced savings for when we get old, It's OUR money, not a fund to be raided. Our Vets have suffered with government "free" healthcare that means appt's months and months of waiting lines and poor care. Once we go socialist the medical care we know and pay for will be worse. Free prescription visits alone will cause havoc. We're the most charitable nation on earth, we're also the freest and most foolish, sometimes freedom leads to idiocy.

I can see massive tax hikes, business fleeing, jobs going to automation, kids never adulting, just Antifa rallies and caramel mocha forever.

I guess you are the poster child for "I can't read what is in front of me!".

For your information, the red OCTAGONAL sign, not a flag, that has the X and word False beside it answers the claim that "Bill Clinton was the "first pardoned federal felon ever to serve as President of the US."

As you read, which by now I really have no expectations that you will because you already have your opinion of the facts, notice that the claims about Clinton have a YELLOW background, and the responses from Snopes
have a WHITE background.

While reading the responses from Snope, you will see how Clinton played the system, just the same as Trump did.

So every time you claim Trump is a draft dodger, remember that Clinton did the same.

Many people played the system like that. There was always a chance they would be drafted. They used what were legal means, and a few favors, which many others wished they had a rich family to help them like that.
We didn't consider those who played the system as draft dodgers, just lucky to have money.
Neither fled the country to avoid the draft. Both actually had health issues that could reasonably keep them out of service. Clinton did claim moral issues about Vietnam, and organized rallies in England to protest the war.

But neither were draft dodgers.

Seems the DOJ is now focusing on transcripts from FBI recordings of George Popadopoulus which include exculpatory evidence that "somehow" never made it into the subsequent FISA applications. That sounds like it could be trouble. Must not have been in Mueller's purview. Perhaps John Durham will dig deep enough to find all the evidence that Trump is a racist.

Trust me, your feelings towards Trump are no stronger than mine were towards Obama. He was bad for our country - My opinion only. I did 8 years my friend and survived. You will too.

Fusion GPS met with the Russian chick and arranged the Popadopoulus meeting, she then met afterwards with Fusion GPS to report on covert operation meeting. How could he NOT know what Fusion GPS is? He wasn't involved at all, This was a complete scam and some folks bought in and are STILL buying in? What does THAT say about their intelligence or character? I'm waiting on these investigations that are investigating the investigators. It's sad we're at this point.

Mueller was a "BINO" boss in name only, He wasn't the brains behind this whole scam, just a face out front, like the one that comes with a picture frame when you buy it.

If people want ignore the facts in front of them, so be it, but just expect your train to have a few empty cars on it. I'm definitely not onboard.

This is a National embarrassment. I don't know how some of these folks are in office.

This may be one of the dumbest posts I've seen in a long while, saying Obama was bad for our country, and trump good, shows an ignorance above and beyond most uninformed fox news meat puppets.

I just wonder how all these liberal cheerleaders are going to explain themselves once these investigations are wrapped up?

It doesn't really matter to me if he is impeached or not.

If he is charged, he can defend himself - that is how it is supposed to work when someone think a crime has been committed.

projecting outward like a good trumpet. If you want to fight, step into a boxing ring. Enough of the pretending to know sh*t, and fake outrage. It’s legal to beat up a liberal inside of a boxing ring ya know.

Let's be honest here, it does not take much to "piss off" a Liberal. We can start with an angry emotional response, that seems to be a trademark liberal brand. Blaming Trump for everything is right there at #2. No solutions, just hate the President. That's quite a platform!

Careful buddy boy. You are describing every conservative when Obama was president. Let's not denigrate every American all at once.

You got it Pal. I will repeat (once again) that you would have zero luck finding any criticism of President Obama from me, I always found him to be an extremely polished speaker and quite the diplomat.

Try not to lower yourself to the same level as those you so easily criticize.

I am listening to the review of the Democratic debate as I type and I can not believe how many times the word "Racism" has been tossed around, seems to be the Democratic rallying point. If you are claiming in anyway shape or form that the Conservative arm used the term during the Obama Administration as much as the left uses it, welcome to the gutter.

bro, relax. All I said was, your post also describes the behavior of conservatives during the Obama administration. i don't need to hint or speak in code, however your reaction is funny to me. you seem to agree that conservatives acted just as foolishly during Obama, but you are having a hard time with it?

Hard time? Absolutely not, both parties can seem "lost". Once again I am a Voting Libertarian who finds the Democratic leadership and platform to be more pathetic than the average bear. The extreme left of the Liberal point of view is gonna cost ya'll the Election in 2020, it's like you can see it, but refuse to admit it. I find that very entertaining and will continue to point and laugh out loud.

if the extreme left gets their way then i agree that it is a recipe for a huge loss. but i'm not convinced it's going that route yet. i think a Buttigieg/Harris ticket might mop the floor with Trump. if i were trump, i'd be afraid to debate Buttigieg.

point and laugh out loud? sounds fun!

KCJimmy - 8/1/2019 at 10:04 PM

I'd like to see it but most likely it's Joe Biden. And he has to run on Obamas legacy. Joe has the best chance of all of them but Trump already won that election once and he will win it again. If it is Harris/WHOEVER the debates will be fun but the election is will be a landslide.

If he wins again, he wins. If the Democrats never win another election again, so be it.

Better than supporting White Nationalism.
