I don't know anybody who has tested positive. Here's the rub, though: as I understand it, it is EARLY on in the development - BEFORE symptoms are detectable that the virus has its highest ... spreadability. This accounts for the fast and efficient spread of the disease. Folks look and feel okay - go out into the world and launch germ attacks. So, when you (or a person with Covid 19) starts to experience the symptoms - think back on the places you've been and the people you've been around. Not so much to find where YOU got it from - but to determine who you might have infected.

HERE'S A READ: https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/09/people-shed-high-levels-of-coronavirus- study-finds-but-most-are-likely-not-infectious-after-recovery-begins/

This might seem silly to anybody who hasn't experienced this illness personally (or doesn't know anybody ...). Respect the wishes and requests for space from 'fraidy cats like me!

No one personally. A member of a Facebook page I participate in has it. He lives in Oregon and was very sick. Fortunately, he's on the mend.

AlPaul - 3/20/2020 at 09:38 PM

Yes. My neighbor's cousin. 4 people who work for my wife's company - though I do not personally know any of them.

hankpipes - 3/20/2020 at 11:20 PM

Yes. The son of a friend who attended that Biogen conference in Boston where many were infected.

Oooh- that was a painful event

One of my colleagues son lives in Seattle. He is getting better

As a doc, Married to a nurse, am afraid one of my colleagues, or my wife, or I, will get it. We do not have enough protective equipment

Please, if you, or someone you know, has N95 masks donate them to a local hospital
We feel like soldiers being sent to the front without ammo or protection

I applaude you and your wife Stormyrider. I work for a Pharmacauticals company in NY state and am so lucky to be working now. I work as a Hvac Tech for a company that is working on a vaccine for this and hope to start hearing some good news . The rumor is in Mid April they will be starting production and hopefully by early summer they can treat patients. But drug making is not a fast process.

stormyrider - 3/22/2020 at 03:34 PM

^^^
you're correct. drug development, testing, and approval is a slow process.
I hope those rumors are true, for all of us.
Keep up the good work!

I work in the medical field and we have treated some suspected cases initially but none were confirmed positive.......as of yet. Just a matter of time.
We are having a network meeting with our hospitals and outreach facilities tomorrow on this to discuss on how we and this situation are going forward.

Bhawk - 3/22/2020 at 04:53 PM

Donít know anyone infected yet, but I do run supply chain procurement for a major health system.

I can only describe the last two weeks of my life as surreal. Completely surreal.

berkhath - 3/22/2020 at 06:47 PM

Yes - my brother's oldest child. Was in Ireland doing a semester abroad thing, had been to France & Spain within the last few weeks.

Flew back to US, on 3/13, didn't feel great (no schit after a day & a half of travel) and went and got tested on 3/14. Called him the next day and said positive. Been isolated w his mom & dad ever since.

None of them have had any real symptoms. A bit of a runny nose, that's been about it. The rest of them are waiting on tests - the place they got tested on Monday ended up running about half of their results as "insufficient" sample of some sort.

Yes, I got a terrible call from a cousin 3 days ago, his son died from covid19 in NYC. 57 YO otherwise healthy, leaves 3 kids. He was a practicing attorney in Ny, NJ, and an advocate in parts of the U.K. he went to Ft. Lauderdale 3 weeks ago to take the Fla bar and hoping to relocate there. Assumption is he exposed while flying to or from Fla.

EddiePie - 3/22/2020 at 11:50 PM

I don't know anyone personally who has tested positive. I do know a handful of people who have the symptoms who cannot get the test.

bird72 - 3/23/2020 at 12:11 AM

A friend and her husband here in town. They are in a motel room because others live in their home. On a side note, a physician at hospital here has it and contacted 26 patients and other staff.

pops42 - 3/23/2020 at 04:29 PM

Rand Paul has tested positive.

Uponthe2ndfloor - 3/23/2020 at 04:58 PM

Not personally.

My daughter is a teacher.A student and a fellow teacher at the school tested positive.Everything seems OK here so far,but keeping fingers crossed.

MarkRamsey - 3/23/2020 at 04:59 PM

A former employee who is 35 and his 2 year old son. The father said he knew he was getting something late in the week and by Saturday he felt pretty rough but by Sunday just a light headache and sniffles. The 2 year old was fussy and had a fever so they got him checked and he was positive but by the next day seemed back to normal.

ABBDutchFan - 3/24/2020 at 05:58 PM

At least 3 co-workers / colleagues at the office with Corona. So far they haven't been hospitalized. 2 of 3 had presumably limited contact with other colleagues.

Another colleague went home today out of precaution. Possibly Corona among her relatives. I hope that isn't so because her parents and her son are at high risk due to medical conditions / age.

A good friend of ours who also lives in our neighborhood lost his mother this weekend due to Corona infection in combination with her age.

One other person i personally do not know, but i vaguely know her daughter, also died due to Corona.
Daughter lives across the street from my fave watering hole.

63 deaths today in the Netherlands.

hotlantatim - 3/24/2020 at 06:23 PM

I would have said no yesterday when I first read this, but last night we got notice that a co-worker in our Colorado office who travels a lot for his job, got diagnosed a couple days ago. First noticed symptoms on the 17th, 4 days after he was last in the office (which is closed as of last week). Supposedly doing ok.

tbomike - 3/25/2020 at 01:59 PM

I almost put this in its own topic because of course Warren and Derek and Susan were part of this event but decided just to include it here. Jackson Browne.

dadof2 - 3/25/2020 at 02:13 PM

I have a few friends who are sick and many in quarantine.
Larry Campbell is sick-played at same show as Jackson Browne.

hotlantatim - 3/25/2020 at 03:10 PM

Neighborhood mom & 2 kids had fevers, sore throats, mom felt out of breath one day laying down. Took kids for strep tests last week (before her breathing issue). Negative. Now pediatrician believes she has it and was tested yesterday. Told the mom & 2 kids (2-3 year olds) just to stay home since they are already feeling alot better 4 days later. Those are likely 3 cases in ATL that will never be counted. It's much more widespread in the US than the official count, but that means the death rate is lower too (though still much higher than seasonal Flu).

JimSheridan - 3/25/2020 at 04:32 PM

A guy I teach with just tested positive. We work at a high school of 1,400+ kids and 100+ teachers.

I am sure he will not be the last from our school community. Our last day at school was Wednesday, 3/11, so I am keeping my ears open.
